Arrrrrrgh!!!

Who wants to fly to Michigan and teach me to use my new laptop? I bought a Dell 1705 and had them load it up and now I can't figure anything out!!! I've been posting with my old B150 just to keep from throwing the new computer against the f-ing WALL!!!

Yes it has Vista and mostly I need to calm down and figure all the new programs out. Also,my video driver is acting up and changing screen res every 30 secs or so. I put in a call to Dell and they're sending someone out and I'm signed up for Dell University so I'm sure I'll get it. Thanks for the responses,I'm just tired and frustrated. I had a $400 laptop that worked fine and now I have a $2000 laptop that's driving me NUTS!!! On the plus side I like the wireless keyboard and mouse that came with it!

You have 2 major problems out of the box 1) its a Dell 2) It has Vista.
Vista is going to be a great OS in a few years once Microsoft actually finishes it but atm it sucks ass. I hate Dell computers, first thing I recommend anyone to do who buys a dell is to wipe it and do a clean install from a windows disk (i.e. not the restore CD they give you)

Personally, if I'm going to get a computer and NOT build it myself, I'd buy a Dell over anything. I haven't had any issues with them at all. I would recommend however, NOT to use or create 'restore cds' from the computer. Call Dell, tell them that you had a virus infect your system and it embedded itself into the restore partition and that you need the ORIGINAL discs so you can wipe it and reload it, tell them CompUSA said they needed them to reload your system.

When you get them, wipe and reload the machine, that'll take all the crap off the machine that you'll never use and get you back the approximate 8-10gigs from their restore partition they make.

Other than that, what's the issue? If it's got Vista, I know a lot of people that don't like it but mainly because it's too 'pretty', takes a little getting used to. Watch out with things that you may buy for it too, most things are not compatible and / or slowly becoming compatible.
