Phantom Posters?

Is it just me or does anyone else also suspect that once in a while someone makes up a sig and posts some off the wall thread just to get us all riled up? I know I'm guilty of off the wall posts but sometimes... I mean like the speeding thing, the "is it ok to wear tennis shoes while riding" thread, the "I'm a new rider and am thinking about buying a ZX-14" thread. I don't know, just sometimes it seems so contrived somehow....

Nah... someone stupid enough to do that would be too stupid to think about things like ip addresses and stuff and the mods would be onto them quick.

I haven't suspected it here much, but it happens on our local board all the time.

I'd have to agree with you on some points, though you know there's always a squidly person out there that would buy a ZX14 for their first bike or stupid things like that. "Stupid is as stupid does!"

I've seen parents buy a new Cadillac Escalade for their 16-year-olds kids to protect them, so it would be no big deal to buy them a new ZX-14.

you'd think that these thread topics are complete fakes, but go hang out at your local hospital in the ICU during visiting hours and see how many people are in there for stupid stuff while riding. i know i see at least 4 or 5 a week come through ICU in good riding weather.

I saw a squid with tank top and tennis shoes on a gixxer thousand (squid bike of choice) today at a stoplight with a tanktop, shorts, and flipflops girl on the back. She was waving to a friend on the sidewalk and when the light turned green and he took off she came about this close -----><----- to falling off

You know,I'm about fed up with every guy on this forum that rides a Honda slamming on GSXRs and especially GSXR1000s. It's like sour grapes or something! WTF,why are you automatically a f-ing "squid" based on what bike or brand you happen to choose? No one ever says this about a RC51(Nicky Hayden wannabe) or a CBR1000RR but I constantly see this about GSXRs. What's the matter, upset that your brand and bike are consistantly out performed by my brand and bike, hmmmmmm? I mean really, like you don't ever see someone on a Honda wearing flip flops, shorts and a tank top.

Average age at Bike night has to be 20. Hundreds of kids (to me) on sportsbikes. A good 40% have scrape marks on 'em. (Bike)

I dunno how it is up there, but down here, the GSXR (ANY GSXR) is considered the "me too" bike... Every Tom, Dick and Harry newbie squidly rider starts out on one of those. Haven't you seen the IMG's floating around various forums showing a tank top, shorts, flip flops, and sunglasses, and it says "GSXR welcome package" ?

I've got nothing against GSXR's, but the sterotypes exist for a reason. No, not all of them are ridden by squids, but a large percentage are. (again, at least around here in FL.... I hear in areas of California, Kawi's are the squid bike of choice, so it could be a regional thing).

That said, Heh, have you ridden an RC51? Hardly makes someone a Hayden wannabe. It's an amazing bike, but NOT a comfy one (I've seen more padding in a pair of socks than there is in that seat), and it's hot as hell. It's a seriously great bike, but one that takes a certain personality and riding style to fully appreciate, I think.

Owning a GSXR doesn't make you a squid. Owning a GSXR and acting like a douche makes you a squid.

Wynona loved her big brown beaver
And she stroked him all the time.
She pricked her finger one day and it
Occurred to her she might have a porcupine

Not everyone who rides a GSXR is a squid but every squid rides a GSXR!
