Ever adopted rescue center pet?

Wife calls me tells me we have new pet cat We just bought two kittens 6 months ago and have 13 year old cat Then tells me cat can only be adopted to family without kids, kitten bites likes to be alone according to rescue workers who took cat home hoping to keep him.
Cat started playing with our other cats right off the bat, like he has been member of the family for ever No biting and loves to be loved Even get tax break since adopted from rescue center

Best dog I ever had came from the Humane Society. The ones I've purchased from breeders were always retarded!!! This dog was a total mutt (like me!) and he was a super genius!!!(also like me!! )

Both of our kitties (they're sisters/littermates) are from a rescue/foster group, and they're the most wonderful fur-kids ever. They're wonderfully sweet, and very, very loving... anyone who thinks cats are aloof and not as loving as a dog has never met Tigger & Piglet.

Congrats on your new family member... he's adorable!! What have you named him?

I kind of have.

We had two cats and when my grandma passed away two months ago her cat (originally a rescue cat) needed a home. So, now we have three .

Sweetie Pie spent the first four months of her life in a rabbit hutch, outside, in the very cold winter, in 2002-2003. My grandma and grandpa had put down their cat of 17 years and were looking for a new friend (end of 2004). They saw a couple pictures of a different rescue cat and when theywent to check her out they fell in love with Sweetie Pie instead. Sweetie Pie; the cat that immediately ran and hid under the bed the minute the door was opened and she saw humans. Ugh.

Sweetie was about a year old when they got her, and it took a good three months before she would come out of hiding places. Even then, she was very wary of males and didn't like a whole lot of company *farmer who threw her in the rabbit hutch was male). I was lucky enough to be accepted on my visits and I'm sure that's why we (boyfriend and I) were chosen to take care of the 4.5 year old skittish cat. She won't ever be quite as social as our original two, but I'm happy to say it only took about a week before she would come out of the corners to see us.

I love all animals. The rescue animals often need a little more love and it's all that more rewarding once you gain their trust.

Also, my mom has 2 basset hounds and 3 cats that were all acquired through rescue.

With all my past critters I have adopted but my mother bought my daughter a full blooded golden retriever that we currently have... My last dog was the coolest I found a full blooded dobe she was abused and when I got her very timid but a sweety.....

Anyone want a year old full blooded golden retriever? She is driving us nuts hyper as chit and because daughter is still young shes somewhat afraid of her and runs and screams which causes dog to jump and chase after her more. I guess we only have another year though people say at about 2 yrs they calm down.

I've only rescued dogs. Took my neighbors cause he locked him up for 3 weeks when he went on vacation to Florida, put water and food in those 5gallon construction spackle buckets! Water was infested with mosquitos and food had ants, flies and maggots all in it! Cut the bars on the guys porch and took the dog!

The dog I have now, got her from a no kill shelter. She's cute, will post pictures when I get home, but the guy that had her before me used to put cigarettes out on her snout.

I like rescuing better than breeders. I know a lot of people that have had issues with breeder dogs.

Awesome!!!

Yes, a lot of breeder dogs have been so inbred and overbred were seeing a TON more health problems as well as agression (purebred golden took a 4 year old girls face off), plus the "back-yard breeders" who are dumb as a pile of dog p00p don't help either.

I think you all know how I feel about rescued pets

I have often rescued from shelters and the thought of knowing that they are in a good home and well taken care of is worth the work to resocialize if needed. And mutts are a ton more healthy than pure breds generally.

Heck, I have a cat now I have had since before her birth, I also have her mother and brother and even when she was a newborn she was beyond anti social, she slept off by herself and didnt care to be petted. As a 5 year old she has mellowed quite a bit, but she is still not an animal that you want to lay a hand on if she isnt requesting your attention (as evidenced by my scars from every vet trip). She also has issues with males, and no male has ever harmed her...so its not just rescue animals that have issues!

No name yet, wife says he's Hymlayin Siamese mix.
Old man brought him in, said he recieved cat as gift month ago. Old man's health took turn for worst, wanted to make sure cat got adopted while he is small. Rescue center has donot kill policy, will take cat back with full refund if cat doesnot work out.
Day two cat has been perfect with us and our other cats

I have a friend who has a chihuaha (sp) thats smaller than a mini-football and is FULL grown...

Each time it shakes, it falls to the floor, it's like the size of a softball, and that'd still be big.
