Couey's Sentencing

Watching MSNBC...they're recounting Couey's trial prior to sentencing. After hearing the full details of what Couey did, I'm seriously doubting the wisdom of rules that prevent us from instituting 'cruel and unusual punishment'. The death penalty is too good for this scum.

I think the whole state of FL is on pins and needles awaiting the outcome of this one. Gives me chills just thinking about him..... Sick f**k doesn't deserve to die like a human being... he didn't allow her that luxury.

Couey just got the death penalty and 3 consecutive life sentences....I'm guessing that'll have to do.

I'd like to celebrate, but

I'd really much rather see him dismembered and tortured...

Or I'd like them to allow her father an hour alone with him, then shove him in the bottom of a well for the rest of his life to think about what he did to that little girl.

It could still happen in prison. Execution takes years. He could be tortued for a long time to come. And being a pedophile/child killer, he will be a marked man.

haven't been keeping up with the news lately, so i didn't quite know what this post was exactly about. After reading a CNN article online, it made me feel like and at the same time. Scary to think of all the sick $%*#s out there in the world.

RIP to that lil girl and prayers to her friends/family

They'll have to keep him in isolation....he wouldn't last 5 minutes in general population....which is where they should stick him!

In FL, it was on the news 24/7 when she disappeared, and then when her body was found... her Father was on the news all the time, pleading for her safe return, and just watching him, you could see how much pain he was in, and it just broke your heart.

I hope now maybe the father and her family can get some peace... .

This is just a thought, but....seeing has how he isn't playing this season..why don't we put Michael Vick in charge of Couey's method of execution. He's certainly displayed creativity in the past. . .

Guy is definately a scumbag and deserves the worst possible punishment imaginable.

However- the government should have no part in it. The prison system is not retribution, i.e. the revenge arm of the government. The idea of the penal system is that when someone breaks the law, they create an imbalance in society and that imbalance must be fixed by a penalty and preferably "correction" of the wayward citizen. This is why the naked lady holds the scales blindfolded in courts, they weigh punishments and judgements.

IMO part of the problem with our society and why we have such a vibrant, powerful, regenerating criminal element to our society is because of our prison system. It's called the "department of corrections" but does anyone get corrected? No. You go in when you're 15 for stealing a car and come out 3 months later a hardened criminal for life. No lessons of any human value are learned in a federal prison these days other than killing pays.

Many have the quaint idea that pedophiles get what they deserve in prison, thereby making it a great place to throw bad people as a way to sidestep the governments unwillingness to torture people. Remember, the moral certainty of any overcrowded, violent prison is amazingly tainted by evil. The inmates that run it are usually the most violent, horrible people imaginable. Guys who kill multiple girlfriends, beat up women, rob banks and kill innocent people, they generally rise to the top of prison society.
Even if the pedophile gets let out of confinement, which he probably won't, the barbarous gang of thugs will probably be more focused on trafficing drugs, male prostitution, contraband etc etc They may also be preying on one of the many innocent people who get put in prison every year, this has also been proven time and time again.
The publics eagerness to get violent criminals put away quickly has led to thousands of lapses in court's, police and prosecutors judements and has led many innocent people to get put away for life and the death penalty.

As much as you may thirst to see this guy, or any other despicable persons blood spattered on the ground, that is not the intended purpose of our government. Capital punishment doesn't deter crime. It's turned into a sick revenge mechanism to quench the peoples lust for vengeance. Pretty F'd up if you ask me.

I'd still enjoy to see that guy strangled, allowed to get conscious again, strangled again, over and over. I just don't think that or anything else worthwhile will be done to him in our current prison systems.

the fact that this guy had the opportunity to commit this crime shows the current judicial system is a joke- he had priors- does someone have to rape a 9 yr old girl and bury her alive to finally be locked up for good? I guess so- the prior convictions should have been enough- why did this little girl have to pay the price just cause some sorry ass judge thought this prick deserved a second chance?

Once convicted of a crime against a child- there should be no second chance. It doesnt take a brain surgeon to know this guy would offend again.

With that said - had I been the father of that little girl there would have never been a trial.
