Bay Bridge

Hey as yall know, Im from the Bay Area,
And i found out the stupidest thing CAL Trans has planned ever. The Bay Bridge has been under construction forever... and now apparently they are nearing the end of ONE section. so...

They are closing the Bay Bridge during the entire Labor Day weekend. This is the main thoroughway to San Francisco from the east bay. Not a couple hours 3 days! On a very busy holiday weekend! I cant even imagine the gridlock... sometimes i wonder how stupid these planners can get...

sorry rant over

Take the ferry. I know the ferry made out during the 89 earthquake when the bay bridge was closed.

They close a couple bridges during every labor day weekend in knoxville. They shoot fireworks off them.

Plenty of notice of Bay Bridge shut down, Last few months signs on freeway, TV and newspapers ads have given notice of shut down.
Its four day job to replace 100 yard section of Bridge, Labor day weekend slowest traffic weekend for Bay Bridge.
When would you shut down bridge for repair?
Plenty of other options to get to San Francisco, Bart, ferry other bridges

BAH! Caltrans is a bunch of sick sadistic people who just love to watch others suffer in misery for the sake of being evil.

I am going to be there Thursday and Friday...just found out from a friend tonight about the bridge being closed. It is not a huge deal since we were not planning on driving into SF but I bet the BART is going to be more busy.

Sure wish more people took your position on not living in CA
Sucks to be able ride year round without bugs, hot humidity and cold temps
Those weekends of jet sking, driving two hours to snow board all in same weekend, really suck big time.
Enjoy your winter

Last year Bay Bridge shut down over Labor day weekend also. Bart runs 24 hours, no problems reported. Great time to visit San Francisco, most people avoided going into city

I'd like to see you jetski without a wetsuit. The water up there is cold !!I do miss living in the Bay area. Lived on Mare Island for 11 years.

I grew up in Vallejo- Lots of cool people I knew moved when they shut down Mare Island. I hear there is a new housing development over there now, but haven't been able to take a look see myself. Pretty excited to go back to the bay this weekend though to kick it with all my friends and fam. Southern Cali is ok, but my heart belongs in the Bay!
