RIP Nick Campbell - Biker killed by Drunk Cager

Doing my late night cleaning at home with Nancy Grace on, the story right now is a 21 year old motorcyclist killed by a drunk cager. Drunk cager pulled out right in front of the biker, body was lodged into the back of the Saturn, guy drove over a mile and realized hey there's a body in my car. The bike up-ended into the car and lodged the biker into the back of the car. Too long to list all the cager's tickets but he was drunk and should not have had a license some time ago.

What a shame

RIP

Thats awful! Kinda reminds me of the other story a few years back where the woman hit the homeless man and get was stuck in her windshield and she drove him with him stuck in it. He died in her garage. People these days have no common sense or judgement.

From the LA Times:
Quote:
A man who drove home with a body hanging out of the back of his car after an accident with a motorcycle has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and will appear in court today, authorities said.

Tony Martinez, 54, of Perris was taken into custody late Saturday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run driving, and driving under the influence, all felonies. He is expected to be charged today in Riverside County Superior Court, said Ingrid Wyatt, spokeswoman for the Riverside County district attorney's office.

Martinez pulled out of a roadside market parking lot onto California 74 near Perris on Saturday about 7:50 p.m. without noticing that Nicholas Justin Campbell, 20, of Moreno Valley was heading toward him on a motorcycle at about 80 mph, California Highway Patrol spokesman Ron Thatcher said.

Campbell, on a 2007 Honda motorcycle, crashed into the back of Martinez's 1993 Saturn sedan. His head and torso broke through the rear window. Martinez drove about a mile home with Campbell's body hanging out of the back of the car. Then he drove to a nearby fire station, where Campbell was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Campbell had been wearing a helmet.

damn shame, I think we should have one strike policies for drunk drivers. Do it once, you lose your license forever and jail time is minimum 5 years.

Yea I saw this on another forum and they were debating "duel blame" because the estimated speed of the biker was 80...don't know what the actual speedlimit was.

Still sucks none the less. Drunk drivers ...especially ones that hurt/kill people need to pay and need to pay for a very long time.

Just saw that he was going 80. Yeah, this can't all be put on the drunk driver. We are responsible for our actions, going the speed limit could of saved this dudes life because he could of had time to dump it or find an exit strategy.

His buddies didn't even know what happened to him. They were looking for his body at the crash site.

if the speed limit was 65, and he was going an estimated 80, kinda hard to fault the rider. sounds like the guy pulled out directly in front of him, no time to stop... doesnt matter what any1 thinks tho, he's gone, a young guy at that. that always sucks
