If you were to enlist today which branch of service would you chose? And for those that are already enlisted, or officers, why did you choose the one you did.

:iagree:

But it does depend on what your future plans are.
Making a career of it?
Just in it for the money?
If you are looking for some extra ching, and like the civilian life, but want more disipline, check out the Nat'l Guard/Reserves of ANY of the branches. Yet another good option.

Oh, and great write up Ebbs... I agree 100%
And ya get the whiney ones in the Army too :cursin:

It depends on what you want to do. If you want a higher quality of life then The Air Force is the obvious answer. Great training which will prepare you for a civillian job on the outside, No BS detail- stay in hotels rather then tents- air conditioning and top notch equipment and facilities. But if you want excitement or to kick some a$$ The Air Force may not satisfy your need. You can always go special forces (para rescue/combat control) but that can be said for any of the branches. It comes down to what you want. :2cents:

If you wanna travel and see the world I'd go Navy. (The Navy also has good training- its just that the living conditions are not as good)

Can't disagree with this.

I served 4 1/2 years in the USMC and am proud of it.

IF I was to join today from what I now know... I think I'd go the Air Force route...they just seem to have it better in alot of ways as TOMMYTOM posted.

I possibly would join the Navy and maybe even the Coast Guard.

Nothing against the Army...my father served in the Army...and I was stationed on an Army base for a few months while attending a school...BUT I'd join the USMC again over the Army but that's just me.

As stated though...it does depend on what you want to do as far as a career in the service

Marines! The few and the proud! Not to disrespect any branch but if you want to be a warrior, be a marine. Soldiers and sailors and airmen do their duty, but the duty in those branches might be combat and might be support and logistics. Marines are pretty much combat primary, support secondary.

My hats off to all of the branches though. It is a proud service!

Navy or AF, probably AF because (some) the jobs that they do are easier to convert to civilian life once they are out! Now considering I've been in the Army for the last 16+yrs, well I would have to stay green! All branches are cool though, just depends on your state of mind. Now if I was to do in all over again, it will probably be the Marines or the AF.....:2cents:

Neithier. (sorry TG). I would go w/ Marines. First, there's nothing tougher, nor hotter than a FEMALE Marine ;)

Besides, you gotta be seriously off in the head to be a Marine (or so I hear) and Im perfect for that :D

"ONE SHOT, ONE KILL". That's all you need!

I chose the Navy. and still paly in the reserves. I have had more fun in the reserves though. If I could do it all over I would do the USMC. Just had alot of self doubt when I was younger but definetly admire them though I bust their butts all the time for working for the Navy basically.

this month makes a year that i've been retired (20yrs) Army! It doesn't matter which one you do as long as you be smart and DON"T follow the wrong crowd. Have fun, travel, save! experience the world in either one! Be proud of yourself and always set a good example because everyone looking!

I was in the Air Force and loved it. Why are you going into the service? Do you want to go in to get trained for a high tech job and schooling? To go to combat? To travel? To get the heck out of your Mom and Dad's house and on your own?

You need to determine first why you are going into the service. The Air Force is the best one for getting trained in a highly skilled job and allowing you to live a pretty normal life. The Navy also has excellent training and schooling but requires you to be out to sea for months at a time, living in close quarters. You are trapped on a boat or sub. Do you mind not seeing the sun for a month at a time? That is very possible on a sub.

One thing is for sure. Any service that you pick will give you a tremendous pride in serving your country. All of the services are important and serve a purpose. What are your needs?

I was honored in serving my country. It was the best thing that I ever did. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

God Bless America!!!!!:pat:
