Jerk in Motorcycle Parking - What Do You Think?

I posted this in a car forum too, I'm curious to see the different reactions...

Here's the backstory: Last week my gym decided they didn't want us parking motorcycles on the sidewalk out front of the building so kids don't walk by and touch them and possibly get burnt. They gave a week of notice and promised us they would do something about the 2 spots with "Motorcycle Parking Only" signs on them out front that always seem to have cars parked in them.

I get to the gym Monday on the bike and in addition to the sign they put up a road cone in front of each spot with a sign taped to it also saying it was for motorcycle parking only, so I parked there and was happy! Problem solved right? WRONG!!!

Last night I parked in spot #1 along with another bike and I come out after my workout to find this:

I walked back in to point it out to the gym staff, then walked out and pulled my camera phone out to take a photo and this guy walks out of the gym and asks, "Can I help you?" I ask him if this is his truck (it is) and if he actually had the nerve to drive up, move the cone, park there and move the cone back while ignoring both signs. He says yes he did and starts telling me how it's not illegal because there is not a DOT sign there so he can park there if he wants.

I said, "Sure it's not illegal, but it's just rude" and proceed to make some comment about his lack of class. He starts making excuses about how there are no other parking spots, which is not even close to the truth since I've been working out for over a year and the parking lot has never come close to being full (last night was not exception).

Once he realized I wasn't the least bit intimidated by him coming up to me to confront me, he was walking back toward the front door while he was talking, trying to put some space between us since I was obviously not going to back down. He started talking some more nonsense when he got back to the building so since the bike was idling already I just goosed it a couple times and told him I couldn't hear him anymore (I can't hear myself over that pipe) and ignored him from there on.

So weigh in on this! What would you do? I'm thinking I'm going to talk to the gym manager with the picture in hand tonight when I go as well.

Your turn, fire away...

Park your bike right behind his rear bumper... If he touches your chit, call the cops. The sign tells you to park there. Everytime you see him in the gym, say loud enough for all in the gym to hear you " Hey look, its the jerkoff parks in the motorcycle spots".... public shame seems to work well on that type.

Make him move.
that's what I did at the apartment. When someone would park in my spot, if I couldn't find the person within a couple minutes, I just hooked up the rope and moved them. Got a lot of confused looks when people came out to see there vehicle in the middle of the lot.
Granted, you would have had to find someone with a bigger vehicle... but that's my

Make the Gym handle it. Other wise the chicken$%^& will knock your bike over sometime when your not around to kick his #$$. The Gym has authority over the lot so if it's parked there against their wishes they should act. Maybe put up a "violaters will be towed" sign?

The spit IS ALREADY marked with a regular signpost and regular sign at the front. The cone is IN ADDITION to the other signs which were being ignored!

If it happens again, you are going to have to make the gym call the tow truck company and have him towed then.. it is their lot, their sign, they can whoever they want towed out of there.

The sign doesnt have to be a DOT sign in a private parking lot. Find out who owns the parking lot to make sure it is a private lot and they can have his vehicle towed for violating their parking rules. Make sure he knows you are going to start requesting his car towed because the lot is not public domain and subject to the rules the entity that owns the lot puts on the parking spaces.

If no one else does anything about it a metal pipe typically works well.
That reall is bull**** that he parks there. Expecailly if he takes the extra time to move a cone before and after he pulls in. What a douche.

I'd make sure the gym manager know this idiot is violating gym rules. Yes its private property and they can have any sign they want, it doesn't have to be a DOT sign.

Oh and one word of caution though, If you keep posting his license on the internet you may be able to be sued for internet intimidation. So I would knock that off immediately, but you can do other things like public humiliation as mentioned above already.

winnar right here. Until you get appointed parking lot Master-The owner of the property needs to step up.

on both counts.... Doesn't have to be a DOT sign, not public property like a park or what-not. and yes... my advice, next time you post the picture, blurr the plate.... he's already proven to be a waste of good breathing air to begin with, I wouldn't put it past him to sue.... and with the court systems now-a-days...... yeah.
