What would you do?

Well, As some of you may know I'm saving up for a bike and I was thinking. I currently drive a F-150 lariet gas guzzling monster, Now don't get me wrong i love my truck and all, but im thinking i want something more convenient and economical to drive. The Blue book value is about 8-9 grand and its in top notch shape, So should i sell, trade my truck in for a bike? Which would be a ton more funner to drive and id get excellent MPG. Seeing how it would be my only mode of transportation, I don't think that would be an issue because i live in Florida. So What would you do???

You need another option. Keep truck, but make bike primary vehicle. That way, you have something to haul the bike/tires/whatever in, and can stay dry in hurricane season
Then you can commute on the bike, and put your gas savings toward insurance and gear

I do not like the idea of having a large truck just for the sake of having a large truck...so...if you do not use it for its real purpose I vote sell it. You could always get a little cheapy car and spend the rest on your bike.

I would sell the truck, and buy a bike but keep aside a bit for a cheap car. as much as i like the bike the car has its purpose too... carting stuff/friends/groceries around, plus winter (oh wait you are in florida )

A man needs a truck. The only reason to sell the truck is to buy a CHEVY truck Keep saving your cash and you'll have a bike before you know it.

Whatever it takes keep a truck around. When you sell it you will regret it later. Unless its for a Chevy truck!

Sell the truck and buy a mid 90's S-10 or Ranger and then buy a nice starter bike! best of both worlds you can haul stuff and still get decent gas mileage with the truck and still have a reliable bike.

I'm with the people that are for selling the truck downgrade a bit to a small car/ truck and get a nice used bike. I would not want to be totally without a car.

took the words out of my mouth.

get a ranger, nissan, toyota in the 3500-4500 range. if you can get 8k for the F150 take it. the ranger can do all that you need i'm sure and its a lot cheaper. then use the extra money to put towards the bike of your choice. I drove a ranger for over a year before giving it to my mom for her new DD and I loved it. very practical and got good mileage (18mpg). it was also the biggest/heaviest ranger you can get. 1994 XLT extended cab, 4x4, 4.0L v6, auto, camper shell.

the 2wd, short cab, manual, 4cyl can get almost 30mpg on the freeway.

Indeed Yeah the truck is payed off, which is nice. I don't want to finance a bike, After being raped by my student loan. I'd rather just pay cash for the bike and have no payments. I'm trying to sell my four wheeler, once that happens i should have enough for a bike and nice gear.

my brother has a '94 Ranger- short cab, 6cyl, 5-speed, 4X4. It's as much a project/PITA as my truck, but he paid more. I think he gets around 20mpg
