Flu

Just wondering who had/got it. I had it since Monday of last week. Been out since then. I lost like 11 lbs. the first 4 days. Couldn't eat. It's the worst flu that ever hit me. That's another reason why I haven't been out riding. Zapped the energy right out of me. Still recovering to this day.

Haven't had it, won't get it. No flu shot for me either. I just have a kick ass immune system.

That's one thing I noticed. If I get the shot, I get sick more. I thought it's just me. That's why I stopped getting it years ago.

Ya sniviling wusses! (just kidding). Here's an interesting medical lesson...Your body produces Interferon. This is the chemical that naturally battles viral infections. Interferon is what makes you feel sick (fever, chills, cramps, etc.), not the virus itself. It was discovered a few years ago that Interferon is the only known "medication" that can, in many cases, slow (not cure) the progress of Multiple Sclerosis. I have MS, and inject Interferon every week to slow the progress of the disease. After I shoot up, I experience flu symptoms for a couple of days afterwards...sometimes severe, sometimes not.

So, I can relate to any of you who get the flu....I have it once a week for life For those of you with the flu, at least you have "a light at the end of the tunnel"......the "light" at the end of my tunnel is a freight train headed my way!

Could be worse....could be cancer. Don't want to sound "preachy", but please take care of your health and enjoy life each day to the fullest....never know when you will be "blind-sided" by a health issue you never dreamed about. All your other problems seem to fade away when you're told you have an incurable disease. I know it sounds geeky, but it's like that song "Live like you are dieing"...I have mellowed out when it comes to things that used to bother me. I think I'm much nicer to people and have a more "live and let live" perspective on life. Throw hate out of your life and vocabulary....takes up waaay too much energy and time. Don't hold grudges either....it takes it's toll. I could go on and on, but don't want to bore anyone.

Just be safe and take care of yourself and your family.

It cost me a chance to join the Indiana State Police. I was suppose to take the physical abilities test one Saturday a few weeks ago. Sadly, I got that nasty flu on Tuesday and was out for the count on Sat. I would have been able to go on Friday or Sunday, but was completely toast on Sat. Not a chance in hell I could make it. Because I missed it, I'm out. Have to wait until next year if I want to try again, but I'll most likely have a different job where I want to be, so I won't bother trying next year.

I might get a minor thing, but nothing debilitating. I'm dragging a little today, but that's because I'm getting slammed on all fronts- work and home. Funny how you can sometimes feel your body fighting chit off.
