College Station man charged in 'wheelie' incident

Eagle Staff Report

A College Station man accused of riding his motorcycle at speeds of 80 to 100 miles per hour and "popping a wheelie" as his 5-year-old daughter held on in back was released Sunday from jail.

Jason Bryant, 27, was charged Saturday with reckless driving, endangering a child, having an expired license, not having a motorcycle endorsement on his license and obscuring a license plate.

He posted $36,600 in combined bonds.

The Brazos County Sheriff‚s Office arrested Bryant after an off-duty officer from Marlin noticed the red and black Suzuki motorcycle traveling north on Texas 6, weaving in and out of traffic at the high rate of speed with the child on back, court documents state. As the Marlin officer followed the vehicle onto Tabor Road, he witnessed the wheelie, he told sheriff deputies.

Bryant also took several turns so fast that his knee nearly touched the pavement, the officer reported. He pulled the motorist over and waited for local authorities to arrive, court documents state.

This "class act" deserves real jail time. The child endangerment aside, Here is a deliberate criminal act, expired license, well, I'll give him 10% benefit here if he claims ignorance. But he knew he had no MC license and he tried to cover the plate because he knew he was going squidly and didn't want to get called in...This is almost a pre-meditated crime which should elevate him to felony status... Now for the Child Endangerment...the child should not be removed from the home. the child did as she was told and the family should not be punished. The Squid should be removed for at least 3-5 years of inside time. He has forfeited his parental rights and should be dealt with harshly. Maybe cause I'm gettin old and fat it's making me cranky, but anyone who would subject any child to that type of danger, should be punished the midevil way...

Just because he has good taste in bikes doesn't give him the right to endanger the kid!

going wild with a 5 year old on the back is insane...and criminal.....when my younger daughter was in the 4th or 5th grade her school was right down the street and i use to pick her up on the bike, id have a helmet for her and she just loved it...

when she was older 16-18 we use to go for rides all the time and she was the best passenger i ever had on the back, you wouldnt even know she was there...and yes I even did wheelies with her on the back (when she was older not 5th grade) she loved it....takes after the old man i guess.
