Do you hook up to unsecure WiFi connections?

Been staying at Hotel in downtown Victoria Canada without any hotel WiFi connection. Checked into room hooked up laptop, have 7 WiFi connections 5 unsecured
Number of times have pulled over car, checked e-mail using unsecured WiFi connection.
Are people just lazy to secure their WiFi connection??????????????

Well Cisco... has this great tool.... that all you have to do is walk around with a lap top and you can see all the WiFi connections every around... one of our plants is in the middle of a neighborhood...you could not imagine how many unsecured connections are around...It's just sad... and as often that we get attacked with viruses... I'm sure they are getting hit as well...
