Child Found In Mom's Hot Minivan

How can I get on this jury??

POSTED: 10:11 am EDT June 28, 2005

A mother could face charges after her toddler was found in a minivan during Monday's heat in Ann Arbor.

Police said the mother locked her 1-year-old son in her van while she went shopping at Westgate Mall, located at Jackson and Stadium streets. A passerby noticed the child in the car at about 10 a.m., Local 4 reported.

The window was broken to rescue the child, Local 4 reported.

"We extracted the child from the vehicle. He was sweating profusely, and he was somewhat groggy," said Ann Arbor police Lt. Mike Logghe.

Logghe said the boy suffered from heat exhaustion. He was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment and was expected to recover.

The mother was questioned by police and released. The boy was released to his mother's care, Local 4 learned.

Officers will now send the case to the prosecutor's office for review of possible charges.

Temperatures reached above 90 degrees in most of southeastern Michigan Monday morning, according to the Local4Casters.

Believe it or not, this happens too often where i live . out of all the states where you shouldnt do this ARIZONA would be one of them!!! They had a bit on the news about how hot the interior of your car gets in the summer. They were stating that it gets as hot as 120 degrees or more on a day witha temp of 105. The best part is sometimes these mothers that leave their kids in thier SUV have the "Arizona Children" vanity plates, which is just the straw that broke the camels back for me. :bas

This happens all too often every summer. There is no explainable reason to leave a kid in a vehicle with all the windows rolled up during the hot summer months. She should be charged without doubt and her parenting abilities are definitely worth investigating.

I think these F*in morons have some serious issues. HELLO??? McFLY????? Being a mother, I would NEVER, EVER leave my children in a car. Whether it would be HOT or COLD. They come with me EVERYWHERE!!!

And to give her the child back was just unf*ing called for. She needs a serious beat down. It pi$$es me off that people of this world are so f*ing stupid.

The amount of anger that the situation like that produces in me, keeps me from getting into it. I even call local authorities on those who lock their dogs in the cars.
