Coach GsxrJack

going through a few pics and stuff and found some pics i had scanned of my softball team...we were the "MapleLeafs" the owner of mapleleaf hot dogs is a good friend of mine and he sponsered the team....we came in 2nd in the state in 2001 or 2002...Ive coached womens slowpitch softball for over 12 years and have coached girls from the ages of 8 to 30...this team was our traveling team and we came in first place in Lynn Mass. "A" league which is one of the best leagues in the state...heres a few pic of the team etc....

My shortstop, she had just got a bad bounce and got slammed in the face, see the black eyes, great player...

heres me yelling, i mean coaching, my outfielder, shes an awesome player and was the starting shortstop for Salve Regina college, Ive coached her since she was 10 years old....but shes a handfull.....but a great kid.

first pic and the girl on the left is probably one of the best hitters in the state, she was the first girl to hit balls out of 2 different parks that we played tournaments on...pitching to her in batting practice was extremely scary

2nd pic is the girls on the field....

Yeah I cant even find enough time to shave let alone coach a ball team. You will have to let us know how the team is doing.

this is tournament ball, very competitive and these girls would drive anyone to start yelling.. its tough coaching 15 competitive, outstanding athletes with major ego's....hell lets face it, its tough coaching 15 girls..no matter what the level of play is..

the girls also dont pay a dime for any tournaments, hotels, uniforms etc (the pics are from our local league so not the Maple leaf uniform) i think Mapleleaf corp. puts up over $3,000 for a single season with hotel rooms, uniforms, entry fees etc...unfortunately my buddy has sold maple leaf hotdogs so weve taken this season off to regroup and look for some different talent, and I'll be looking for a new sponser for next season

I,m not a screamer, and I dont yell all the time, but i do try to get my point and the way i want them to play across to them. I wont embarrass them and start yelling at them from the bench for mistakes, but i will pull them aside and try to get them to think, i do go nuts for not trying, disrespecting me or another player etc.....

yup thats Frye park in lynn....we came from peabody cause the competition was horrible and Lynn had some great teams, so I applied and they didnt want to put us in the "A" division, i told them dont worry we can play pretty good ...we won the A division and the playoffs our first season in Lynn now even Lynn is dropping off so were going to Wakefield next season...

I have a lot of bishop fenwick graduates so you know how good they are..

You wanna wash mine for me? I'll ride yours while you wash mine, then when you're done washin' mine, I'll give you yours back so you can wash it! It's a good plan and we both come out with clean bikes in the end!

Sounds like a good plan jackass.. Bring that bike up to Michigan and we can talk more about your plan.. You might not come out with a clean bike in the end, hell you probably won't have a bike at all, but I might find a way to amuse myself for 5-10 minutes..

thanks, as much as i enjoy the time off this season, I still find myself going to the park to see some of the girls play (they joined up with other teams this season to keep in playing shape) and as much time, hassle, commitment it takes, i miss it alot...

ive been coaching since my kids were 7-8 (16 years) helping out the midget coach when they were little, then took over a junior team, 13-17 year old girls, did that for many years and many championships...then at one point i was doing the junior girls and the senior girls at the same time and at the park for 7 days a week, i got a great understanding wife...then I gave up the junior girls to concentrate on the seniors...will probably only do a traveling tourney team next season with the right girls and sponser....

I agree, Lynn softball is nothing what is was 5-10 years ago. I remember when my dad and uncles played, Arena, Post 6, it was like a night event to go to Keeney, Frye, Barry and even Pine Hill to watch all the games. Now your lucky to even have 5 teams in a division. Those where the days.
