Movin up in the ranks.

The results came out for E-5 today and I found out I made it! I am officially a Staff Sergeant as of either 1 Sep or 1 Oct. It also means an extra 200 bucks a pay check which is the most important thing. I'm pretty much doing NCO work now so my job won't change much. I might have to supervise a troop now though which can be frustrating at times. Another good thing is that I will get at least 3 months of back pay tax free since I will be deployed to Iraq. And at least another month and a half taxable on top of that. This is because there is a class that I have to take before I can actually sew on the stripe. So that '06 R1 in even closer in my sights. My girl made it too so we can even start lookin into buying a house. Who knows.

Rarely is the question stupid, but sometimes the answer is you need to run everything you read online through your own personal BS meter to determine if it makes sense to you.

Congrads....how long have you been in? I served 6 1/2 years...by the time I got out, I was an E-6 (for ya'll that dont know what that is....its a Staff Sgt, in the Marines).

I'm going to assume your active duty....I was too the whole 6yrs....serving several places....overseas mainly....Oki (Japan), Naples (Italy), Bosina and Iraq (big sandlot), as well as sea duty out on the USS Nimitz......

I know what your next question...what was my MOS...(military occupational specailty) in other words my J O B.....6045 <<~~~ Aviations a mechanic, enegine specailist for the F-18 Hornet...inshort, a grease monkey...wrench turner....what we were known as, a winger or wing nut

Hooters...looks like you got to travel around alot. Thats always a lot of fun. I was in for a little over 6yrs as well. If you remember what my old avatar was, that would tell you alot of what I did and how much I got to move around and see many countries.

Hoooah! Congrats

What branch are you in? I was prior Air Force, loved it but got out to finish degree. Wish I was back in though! Love the industry & company I work at now, but I'd go back in if I could.
