Bluetooth Headsets

Hey guys, i'm just catching up on some technology and I got a bluetooth capable phone. I was wondering if any of you guys ever use a bluetooth headset while you ride. I was looking at some of them, but I wasn't sure if they would fit under my helmet. If you do where them while you ride, which kind do you like the best?

I don't have a bluetooth unless I go down on Smurfette! But then its my lips and tongue moreso than my teeth!

And I don't advise talking on your cell when riding... come on!

One of the things I LOVE about riding is that it is just me, the bike and the road (and whoever I'm riding with) enjoying some peace away from all the BS. That's my $.02 on the matter.

As to whether the headsets would fit, I doubt it. I couldn't even get the earbud headphones for my Ipod to fit under my helmet comfortably, and they're MUCH smaller.

If you choose to do this, there are several options such as bluetooth enabled helmets (BMW, I think) or some of the Comm systems like Chatterbox will sometimes have jacks for this, I believe.

I'm with GM though, it's just a bad idea. You see how inattentive drivers are on phones...Now imagine being that inattentive on a bike.

Yeah Guid..... a co-worker and I were talking about people these days.

What ever happened to if I'm not at home then I'm not reachable? Leave a message and I'll call you back. It seems like now-a-days we have to be reachable and connected to the outside world at all times. If we aren't on the cell phone then we are listening to the radio. How many times do you see people just driving in silence? What are you so repulsive that you can't even drive while listening to your own thoughts?

Then people wonder why so many have road rage and are ending up in the loony bin... having nervous brakedowns.

Hmmm...can you even hear the calls at speeds? I know when I'm driving & my window is down, I can't hear worth of crap on my cell and I try not to talk on my cell while driving anyway. It just doesn't even sound right, "I'm on my bike, what do you want?"

I was pulling up to the Bike shop Sat on the CBR to get my new Pilots, as I approach, I spot a woman talking on her cell in her car in the parking lot. I approach with caution and guess what? She back right in front of me the whole time while she was backing up, she never even once look back because she was busy trying to turn the wheel & holding her cell with her cheek until my horn went off with the middle finger to follow.

Sorry for change of subject

I have a bluetooth piece and I freakin love it to death! I bought the Motorola H500 and it's rated really high. When I forget my H500 I go freakin nuts! I CANNOT stand to hold the cell phone up to my ear anymore. I can leave the phone on my belt clip, or on the end table and walk all over the house and have no problems.

I highly reccomended one to my buddy who does fiberglass and boat repair sincne he can talk and work at the same time. He said nah I don't think I would like it. Well he ended up buying one anyway and fell in love with it. He's lost it twice now, and freaks out about it. He found it both times and says he can't live with out it.

I've never tried to fit my H500 under my helmet, I'm sure it would work, however I don't want the helmet to push the call button on the side, because it will call the last person dialed, or received if you tap the button twice or for 5 seconds the unit will power down.
I may try it to see how it works out tho.

Ladies and Gents
It just so happens that whilst I was in Taiwan recently, just to kill time my collegue and I wandered into the Taiwan Automotive/Motorcycle Parts exhibition.
Amongst lots of other stuff I found........ A bluetooth throat mike/earpiece! It clips around your neck, with only the small earpiece that needs to fit under your helmet, and because it's a throat mike, it's not affected by wind noise. My collegue has the brochure, we'll be trying these out for a seperate application, but I'll get details.

Watch this space!!!

No prob! That is definatly the one to get Guideon!

oh and Chuckademus I'll be watching for this also. I can always link up another unit to the phone for riding, and use the H500 for everything else.

I usually use the bike as a way to "get away" from everything. but I do listen to the MP3 player while I ride. Ive never had any trouble with them fitting under my helmet and I have a pretty tight lid. But I wouldn't mind having one of those blue tooth things for around the house. Just a min. ago I was trying to talk to the GF on the phone while doing dishes and the phone fell into the sink. Now the volume doesn't work right. Hopefully once it drys out it will be good as new.

I refuse to tip toe carefully through life, simply to arrive safely at death.

I bought speakers for my helmet from whitehorse Press and it has a connection for my cell with boom mic...

I don't have to "hear" my phone ring...when riding, it is set to answer automatically after 2nd ring...
