america's newest idol

well, here he is folks. taylor hicks, the latest "american idol". let's just say i won't be buying any of his cds. i was rootin' for chris. as far as i am concerned, the show ended with him getting eliminated. i think america is getting increasingly tone-def, all the good contestants were voted off this stupid show. hopefully this show will soon run it's course. after all, none of the winners ever really went anywhere except for kelly clarkson. but with our country's obsession for mindless entertainment, i doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Sorry, but I like his personality. Voice-wise, from a technical perspective, he wasn't the best in the competition. But, no one could match his personality. It's a singing competition, but it's more than that too.

Living in AL, I rooted for Taylor. He's from Birmingham, as is Ruben and Bo Bice.

Carrie Underwood picked up some hardware at the CMA's this week and she is moving up the charts in Country...I picked taylor to win the night they sang the Elvis songs...

and that was the only time I watched half a single episode...birdman was hooked on it and I saw it 1 time at his house...

he did have a good personality, but i just don't think he had the talent to back it up. if it weren't for this competition, he probably never woulda been discovered. i don't think i've seen anyone in any of these seasons that actually had what i call "star quality". chris came close. i think he'll do well. but taylor is gonna have a tough time finding his niche in the music world. what exactly will his genre be? definately not pop. i think he is more of a soft rock/easy listening kinda guy.

First of all American Idol is the biggest waste of time ever. I have seen maybe 1 episode about 3 years ago.

Second...this guy is a total yag. He's a fraud. I promise he won't do jack shiot. Look at him. Being a performer isn't just about a voice. You have to have the total package...which he does not. You can't market a guy that looks 45 years old like he does to the public. They just won't buy it.

Also, none of the "Idols" have had any success. Clarkson's success came after she got out the Idol circle. And she's hot.

F this guy, F American Idol, F Clay Aiken, F Ruben. F them all.

MT OUT.

I've been watching AI since day one and I am hooked. I think Taylor has a good voice, but his personality to me was just plain annoying. All this crooner and old school antics were fine at first, but just got to be too much at the end.

I agree completlety with ya. Chris was the most enrtertaining of all and I will buy his cd if it comes out.

I thought Elliot has the best voice of anyone that has ever been on AI, but he has no personality, thats what killed him.

+1 Absolutely....

Chris was my favorite as well... But in truth, it's good he didn't win. The whole dog-n-pony show they drag the winner through? Chris wouldn't have done well with that... he's a rocker, and nothing more (I mean, he's got stage presence, but let's face it -- "Idols on Tour" would not have been his bag). Taylor, on the other hand, is a great personality -- he's an entertainer all around, whether it's his singing, his harmonica playing, his horrible dancing, or just his goofy mannerisms. And let's face it - the boy CAN sing. He's damned talented, and I'd definitely buy his CD's.

I'm just relieved Kat didn't win. Again, the girl can sing, but ****, she's 21 years old, and doesn't have a CLUE how to cut loose and have fun. She's all about glossy lips, and trying to sex things up (not that there's anythign wrong with that, but it gets old when that's her only dimension). I see her as having a long career recoding mushy ballads for Disney soundtracks.

I adored Elliot as well, and thought he had the best voice... but he came a LONG way (style, looks personality) during the competition... maybe this brief stint in the spotlight will help cultivate some presence for him.

EVERYTIME she sang, I said the same thing! I felt like I should have been watching a Disney animated film.

without the "F XXXXXXX"..... This show is so far from being about talent, it's rediculous. How many times does a less talented but attractive person make it to the next round? When will they get two more judges like Simon that's honest with these contestants? How many times do we have to hear that 50 bazillion people voted smashing a previous record? By the way, Mr. Seacrest, you have to be at least 18 to participate in political elections. That's why no president has ever received as many votes as you claimed called into American Idol. This show is BS and tiresome. It's time to say goodbye to American Idol.
