Cheese it! It's tha fuzz!!!

I was just on another motorcycle forum and someone started a thread about running from the cops. He himself is a police officer and was very polite in stating that you shouldn't run cause you might end up getting killed just to avoid getting out of a ticket. I side with him. The fuzz gets behind me, chances are good that I was doing something wrong. I'll pull over and own up.

The thing that shocked me though, is te amount of replies that he got from people that said basically, "screw it! I'm runnin!!!" Are people really that dense? Am I the only one that thinks running from the cops is well......WRONG? It amazed me the amount of people that would run from the cops. I know that on a high powered sport bike, getting away from the fuzz is pretty easy but is it really worth your life?

Just thought I'd vent a little.

Me neither and can't understand anyone who would. The cops are there to enforce the laws on the books. If somebody doesn't like the law, they should fight to change or remove the law, not take it out on the cops. Doing that not only endangers their lives, but the lives of the officer and anyone else who happens to be involved whether they want to or not.

Unless you're a felon, why run? If you are nice to the cop, you may just get a warning. Or maybe they'll cut the speed down from 90 to 70. They don't always have their radar on. If they see you going over the speed limit, but don't have the radar signature, you may just get a warning and stern lecture.

I agree with most of you. I pull my but over cuz iv aparently done something wrong or they are just checking ya out. If you run they are going to chase you and we may be faster but your not thinking straight and it would suck to be running and lay it over in a corner pushing it. My roomie (who is a noob) and honestly cant ride yet. Hes figured out how to go fast but still wobbles around corners and drags his feet in slow turns in the parking lots. Anyway he swears he will run from the cops and I told him hes an idiot. Hes got a '07 ninja 650. The problem is, they dont have respect... people like that are what give the rest of us bikers a bad rep, and known only as helliens, or trouble.

Well for me is a fine line....

I will never run if they are directly behind me... not worth it... if the red n blue are going I pull over and beg for foregiveness.

However, I have blown by quite a few cops at high speeds like 120mph... and as soon as I do... I twist it to 180.

One time I got laser clocked at like 77 in a 55. I seen the cop getting in his car and the brake lights coming on... I knew I was F'ed... I debated it for about 2 seconds and said F'it... speeds from 150-180 for about 10 miles down the freeway... no cop ever in my mirrors.

Do I regret it? No
Would I do it again? Probably
Was it the best, most responsible thing to do? Nope

Oh well....

I'm still just amazed at how many people would just blatantly spit in the eye of those who try to keep the peace and enforce what is already known as law. Those same people rely on the cops for help if they are in trouble. Hypocrisy. In my mind, if I were a cop, based on the amount of sport bike riders that do run, I'd give one a warning just cause he pulled over!

Shoot, one of my buddies got pulled over on the highway doin about 130 in a 65. He actually pulled over and the cop gave him a warning just because he didn't run (he could have gotten away easily too)!

Maybe I'm an old fogie trapped in a 22 year old's body. I don't know.

Don't you guys watch Cops. The motorcyclist always crashes. At least the ones they show. Who knows how many get away.

Personally, I'd pull over, but thats just me. I dont need someone lookin for my bike cuz I was too stupid to stop for em. you'd rather be the good citizen and not get a charge when they do find your bike layin on the roadside and you ripped to hell because you ran from em for a small ticket.

Hey man I know all about being older than your age... I'm the guy on here with the chopper. Cause I can't stop myself from doing stuff like I said above. My blood gets pumping and I do stupid crap... so I get rid of the tool that allowed me to do so...

I have seen once on a episode a bike chase when they got away. But usually its either a HD or a sportbike on some back country road...and looses it on some railroad tracks or some crap.

Of course...every time I see a cop pulling out, I think about running. Do I ever do it? Well okay, once, but that was in a car anyways. I just don't think it's smart to try to full throttle a bike through the streets, too much can go wrong

Well, as a whole, I believe that this message board shows much greater maturity and responsibility over the other one I was on that spawned this thread. Therefore, I shall remain here.

Not that I was goin anywhere...I just like variety.
