Gold supporting member....

Even though you're not a "paying" member you still support the site with useful information/knowledge/experiences and occasionally some hyjinx and shenanigans.

I'd love to make it to the gap this year but I'm just barely going to miss it.

I like the idea of starting it ~2 or 3 mo before the gap meet. Having a finish either A) at the gap (folks can squeeze in that last bit) or B) right before the gap. Need not be present to win for our Westcoasters or otherwise equally busy TWF'ers....

I'd like to see more "milage" contests going on as well. I think it's a great way to show folks you really do love being on Two Wheels....

Maybe after that one, start another the ending day of the rally running till the end of summer? That way it definately gives everyone a very decent opertunity to rack up those miles during the joyful summer months.

More Milage Contests, Please..... ?

cause you know that members that provide usefull, intelligent, worthwhile posts contribute as much if not more than members that pay tribute in cash (and oh! the ones that do both! gods even!)

with that logic it seems like some posters, like OTB, Gman, Dlit, etc etc should start offering their services for hire!

There's a lot of good (sometimes hypocritical) information posted on this board by some very great riders out there.

So anyways.... More Milage Contests for 2008???? Gman, whatcha think?

I think it'd be a good idea to have some stuff we can do to look forward to the trip at least.
No contest in the world is getting me to the Gap for the Rally.

I would say that for a contest guideline.. it should be during the official summer... "Memorial Day to Labor Day" Of coarse that is only 4months, but I would say nothing before MD and maybe pushed back to Holloween... maybe?

On the prize... the problem is what to give... I don't even have anything to push forward...

i'm trying to get the tech guys to fix the custom user title...

If it don't cost money or serious time... I don't think its a matter of "making it worth it" we're only talking about diong whatever you do and how much you do it... take 2 pics... post em...

That's a BS excuse. I am willing to bet that drewpy put on more miles that 99% of the people that live in the southern states.

Truth.

Might be good to save this until Spring thaw and do it for maybe a 6 month period or something (since I know that's about how long riding season is for many of you).

As for photochopping  Eh, if someone really wants to go to those lengths just to cheat someone else out of a t-shirt or a tankbag, it's their conscience, ya know?
How many miles did you put on this year Neebs?

In all honesty, I haven't tracked it this year. I did about 9K last year, but probably only about 5K so far this year (then again, my "year" is April 1 to March 30, because I 'officially' started riding April 1, 2006 )

I didn't get NEARLY the miles I could have or would have liked to this year, as we had two monsoon seasons over the summer, and I had a slew of mechanical issues in between. But I'm trying to make up for lost time over these last couple months!

Yeah I saw the last milage contest. Drewpy won it w/o any question.

But seriously. Folks are putting their bikes away for the winter and not breaking them out till April or later depending on their states, weather, and riding conditions. Oh hey, is Drewp's bike his DD/main form of transport?

But yeah, I'd totally be down for a milage contest starting after memorial day as GM proposed.

I wouldn't mind chipping in 20 bucks if I had a chance to participate.

hell i logged about 8k, and i had my liscense taken away half the time.

what we SHOULD do is see who can visit the most states as another competition. that way you could pick up post cards or whatever from them and have definative proof of your voyages.

That or have your pic taken in front of a major land mark. That would be a cool contest.
