Hello to all! *Looking into sportbikes*

Hello everyone. My name is Joe and I figured it would be wise to ask the sportbike community do's/don'ts as well as some other general info.

I know the search function within these forums is a modern marvel, but I had a quick question as far as motorcycle maintenance. I come from the DSM community and have had 5 AWD Turbo Talons/Eclipses. I have done all of my own work and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.
My question is: are bikes pretty straightforward and easy to work on? I plan on doing much more research but I wanted to see if any of you could chime in as to what I can expect from the bike world! Thanks in advance to any and all help or insight you can give! I am looking forward to a possibility to get into this hobby and lifestyle! Cheers!

as with cars, it depends on the bike. in general, motorcycles are easier to work on. especially the bikes you should be considering as a beginner bike. at the same time, motorcycles require much more basic and routine maintenance. this is also not very difficult to do. if you really plan on breaking things down, id recommend you get a shop manual or something along the lines of a Clymer manual for the bike you end up getting.

Thanks for the response! I am still debating on getting a bike, mainly because drivers are terrible and no matter how watchful and safe I am - I do not wish to die. But then again you only live once and I want to have fun!

So to revive an old thread I made, I decided to get a bike since gas is skyrocketing and I have had enough of cars! I wanted a 600 but there was nothing in my area that was worth buying that would be relatively maintenance free whilst I learned the bike and roads.

I picked up a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It is red, one owner and has 5k miles. It even still has a factory warranty for another 2k! I got it for super cheap and am glad I got a smaller bike. Ill post some pics tonight! I am looking forward to going to some events and hopefully meeting some local people on here. Cheers!
