Embarrassing story stalling on hill
Hello. First Post. I just got my first bike two weeks ago and live in a very hilly area. I've been practicing hill starts on the smallish hills around my neighborhood and thought I had them down pretty solid... until this morning.
I decided to venture out of my neighborhood for a ride and come up to traffic on a very steep hill. I stop and stall my bike SIX times trying to get going again and kill the battery so it won't start anymore. By now people are honking and yelling at me as they drive around me. I get off the bike and push as hard as I can to move the bike to the striped line area in the center of the road.
A really nice guy pulls over to help me. He says he used to ride and helps me jump start my bike, gives me directions to my neighborhood that doesn't require stopping on any hills and follows me for a couple blocks in the opposite direction he had to go to make sure I got on my way ok. I was so thankful for his help.
This just happened this morning and I haven't been on the bike since. Clearly I overestimated my ability when I decided to ride in traffic outside of my neighborhood, and I currently have zero confidence in my ability to operate a motorcycle.
Anybody have any similar stories/experiences?
