Supporting Member Program information!

Supporting Member Program

We would like to thank all of the members of TwoWheelForum who have helped us grow to become a fun and informative sportbike community over the last year. We've been growing steadily since we started in June of 2004. It took us under 12 months to reach 1,000 members, and our current growth rate sees our membership doubling or even tripling in much less time. We're over 4 million hits per month, and our bandwidth usage is growing exponentially as people find us on search engines, referrals and other methods.

This level of activity is a blast. Whether you need a tech question answered, need advice as a new rider, or you want to talk about anything else in Off Topic, you are going to get an answer quickly.

In order to stay on top of things, and remain one of the best sportbike discussion sites on the internet, we must constantly upgrade. The software we use that "is" the site, has frequent releases. Some of the newer components to the site, such as the home page, are not built into the packaged software and are an addition item. Our photo gallery software is another example of an add-on that enhances the site and allows our members to post photos of their rides. Unfortunately these upgrades and add-ons are not free.

We have aggressive plans this year to continue to improve the site functionality and performance. There are many things we would like offer our members, near-term and down the road.

We have managed to keep the site free to the members for the last year. We are still going to do so. The Supporting Member program is a completely voluntary way to contribute to the site and get a few extra perks for doing so. If money is tight or you would just rather not contribute financially you are encouraged and more than welcome to continue as you do today.

We have moved all existing members into a new usergroup. It is for the first 1000 members only. If you are a member right now you are a member of this group. With this new usergroup you can store up to 500 private messages instead of the prior 50. Everything else remains the same. This is our thanks to the original members of the site who are making it a fun and growing resource.

Members signing up after this point will not have all of the same features that the First 1000 crew has. We've learned that there are a few very bandwidth intensive features that really should be reserved for those that chip in for them. These include post attachments, gallery uploads and large avatars. The Supporting Member program is for new members who want to get these features. The first 1000 crew gets them for free and always will.

The perks are outlined in the table below. The Lifetime Member and Lifetime Gold plans are just that. As long as you and TwoWheelForum are around you will retain your status. It is a one time payment.

The following graphic will be applied to:

If you choose to become a Supporting Member it is very easy to do so. You can choose to pay with a credit card via paypal or you can just send us a check. To contribute via paypal go into your User CP from the top menu of the forums. Scroll down until you see Paid Subscriptions in the left side menu. Choose the plan you would like and follow the prompts.

To pay by check please make it out to TwoWheelforum. Be sure to put your username on the check! Send it to:

TwoWheelForum
P.O. Box 453
Madison, AL 35758

Or to use PayPal please follow this link.

Thanks for your support!

Supporting Member - $25 per year
Lifetime Supporting - $100 one time payment
Gold Member - $50 per year
Lifetime Gold - $200 one time payment

The legal stuff - While we will do our best to continue to operate TwoWheelforum.com there is no guarantee of continued service. Supporting Members must follow all forum rules just as non-supporting members. Supporting Member status does not grant any special consideration when member banning is considered due to breaking forum rules. Refunds will not be granted to Supporting Members who are banned for breaking forum rules.

Thats why its strictly voluntary..no pressure either way for anyone to give or to stay as a free member. Nothing changes in that regard. We all know TWF is about its members, and this is just a way to give alittle extra to those that are in a position to donate a few greenbacks to help out the cause.

But either way, EVERYBODY is important to TWF and we wouldnt be here without you all.

I have my opinions and concerns about the idea (not the actual giving but some other aspect) but I'll reserve them to myself, cause I don't want to burst or dent the bubble...

For those that helped make it what it is today, you lose nothing! For those new people coming on, it's still free! Sure, the new users won't have everything the first 1000 members have now, but that doesn't prohibit them from posting, posting images, uploading to the gallery, PM'ing or anything else.

I see nothing wrong with supporting a site as great as this one. Other sites do similar things and it helps them grow with the demand.
I hope I'm not the first to help out!
Come on guys its for a good cause. Ouring!

I'm not doubting any of that. And will most likely chip in as well. But I see some other issues that MAY come up.

You open a account with them and it allows you to transfer money using about any means..being your checking account, savings account, and/or credit card. Then you make the payment to whomever and they never see that info. It works really well and I've been using it for years!

PayPal is owned by E Bay and makes their money off EBayers sales to stay alive.

There are two levels of membership and two ways to pay for each level. You can be a supporting member for as little as $25 a year:

Quote:
Supporting Member - $25 per year
Lifetime Supporting - $100 one time payment
Gold Member - $50 per year
Lifetime Gold - $200 one time payment

If that's what you're considering, I'd suggest holding onto your $ until you have the full amount. For you, as a first 1000 member, you wouldn't be gaining a whole lot other than wanting to support the forum; which at least a couple have already done.

We did it this way because it didn't seem fair to take something, most of you had, away and then make you pay for it. That is gallery upload limitations, Private Messaging limitations etc.

The only real difference is you can store up to 500 private messages instead of the prior 50 as a first 1000 member and a Gold member can store 10,000.

Again, the incentive for the first 1000 crew is simply to support the forum. It's voluntary, you can choose to do so or not, no one is going to look down upon you! It's those that come after the first 1000 where they can really take advantage of the extras, since it's now somewhat limited (gallery uploads, PM's etc).

Well that's neat, I just signed up. I like this forum and I want to support it even though I can't sign on as much as I would like. Still, this my favorite. Happy fourth everyone! God bless the troops!!
