I just spent an hour and a half cleaning my rear rim with regular car soap. Is there something better to use that wont mess with the tire? the fact that i havent cleaned the rim for the last 7600 miles didn't help me any though lol
thanks

A good degreaser usually works well. allow it to soak into the dirt and grease. dilluted simple green works. Don't use anything caustic, this may remove you paint off the wheel. If they are polished or chrome then a chrome cleaner or polish works also.

Honda recommends their Honda Contact/Brake Cleaner. Safe and effective for cleaning chains, safe and effective for getting gunk of the rear wheel. Following, apply a good spray on the rim like the Honda Polish... helps keep it clean following. Have used this combo for years on all kinds of bikes.

I use Honda polish (sprayed on a towel - NEVER directly on the rim)... if there's a lot of gunk, or chain lube, strangely Armour All Cleaning Wipes (the kinda in the purple pop-up dispenser) work WONDERS (don't ask how I found this out... it was quite by accident)... works better than Gojo at getting chain lube off your hands, too. :dthumb:

Hey guys, my name is Boo and I am a owner of a company called Liquid Performance. We have a complete line of cleaning/maintenance products for the motorcycle world and our products have been reviewed on this forum. We have as close to a spray on spray off cleaner as you will be able to find on the market without damaging any surface on your bike. Most degreasing cleaners are very tough on your metals as well as having the degreasing properties which go into your seals and bearings looking for grease to eat at. So unless you are anal about maintaining your bike and grease and lube all points then I would stay away from the degreser type of products. Our Street Bike Wash will clean surface grease and oil but will not hunt for grease or lubes. We also have a awesome product which we call Liquid Performance Spray Cleaner/Polish which is similar to the Honda spray polish. It has cleaning solvents in it as well as wax and it is as easy as spray on and wipe off with a microfiber detailing cloth(always use a microfiber) with little on no effort. You can detail your entire bike without the use of water. Also we have a coolant that is second to none. On average we lower operating temps by 18 degrees than our closest competitor and by an average of 30 degrees than stock green coolant. And with the lack of sufficient air flow to your engine, coolant puking will occur fairly regularly. So with all this being said, take a look at our products and I feel you will like what you see. We let Jason Britton try our products last year at VIR in August and now he uses our products for his stunt team. Check out our review on this forum. Stay safe and if you hit Myrtle Beach next week, stop by and check us out at Broadway at the Beach right in front of Hardrock Cafe.
