Looking at getting a new cruiser.

The Honda Shadow VLX Deluxe 600(VT600CD) just isn't cutting it, and there is absolutely no decent aftermarket for that bike.

So now I'm looking at this:

The Star (Yamaha) Midnight Warrior.
102 cubic inches displacement (1,671 cc)
Air cooled
OHV
48 degree V-Twin
Fuel injected
~600 lbs.

Obviously the hideous exhaust would be immediately replaced with some curved "straight" pipes--loud pipes which could end lives.

If all goes well, and the wife doesn't kill me first, I'm aiming to get it next winter.

HELLZ YEA!!! The Warrior is a sexy bike. I'd pimp that thing above any other cruiser out there. It's faster than any other stock cruiser as well (well....the V-twin cruisers anyway). It's sounds absolutely sick with a straight exhaust!

My second pick would probably be the Honda VTX.

Good luck, buddy! You have good taste working for ya.

Go with the VTX1800. I've got several friends that have them and they love em. Plus they have tons of accessories

True, and I was looking at them. But a few things kill the VTX for me:

Shaft drive
Already been bitten by my current Honda's lack of reliability
Over 100 lbs. heavier
Too much chrome (I hate chrome)
Inferior handling

Star cycles rock...as far as metric cruisers. A dealership here is big into customizing them and when a local Harley dealer finally let metric cruisers in their show...a freakin' Star cycle won !! The Harley guys were like !!

I've always liked that bike. If I were to buy a cruiser in the lower price ranges, that would probably be it.

Victory's are nice, definitely. 100cuin American made V-twin and killer styling (especially on the Vegas) but at 30 large? I'd stick to the Jap twin personally.

I actually was until the only dealership in the local area went belly-up from lack of sales.

Now the closest dealer is about as far away as the closest MV Agusta dealer--at least two hours away if traffic is good.

The V-Max is the only cruiser worth owning.

A guy at work has one but, except for the engine, I don't like the look of it.
