Cross country ride. Is it possible?

Hey guys, I own a 2008 kawasaki Ninja zx-10r and I love it but I moved to california and left the bike with my mom in Fargo, ND. I live in Modesto Ca now and I want the bike here now that Im on my feet. Ive looked at having it shipped but I have also thought about flying back and riding it the 1700 miles back. I have never been on the bike for more than 4 hours at a time and I will need to be able to be on it for awhile because i need to do it in 3 days. Is this possible and am I being realistic or should I just have it shipped and stop thinking so much about it?

Its not the cleanest thing you do but I see canadians and other riders doing it all the time where I live. There is an special on abc.com that you can watch about a couple that rode from north america to south america. Took a few months.
