demo-riding the competition...

Took a chance on the Kawaski Demo Days as part of the Ascot Reunion at the Pomona Fairgrounds this past Saturday, and I'm glad I did. Got to test-ride a Vulcan 900 cruiser, the Ninja 600, the ZX-10, and once I decided I could handle it, the awe-inspiring ZR-14. I'm on the wrong side of 50, so it's nice to know I COULD ride something like that and not hurt myself or the bike. Yeah, a lot more "zing" than my 749, at least 'til you come to the corners. And was actually quite comfortable, whereas the "10" compacted my legs, and I'm only 5'8". Good times!
Oh yeah, to make sure we all get to participate in demo rides in the future, don't do what one moron in front of me did: don't weave back and forth like you're warming up the tires in a NASCAR Toyota, don't slow down way behind the factory lead rider so you can see how fast your demo-bike accelerates,
and don't try to hit triple-digit (MPH) speeds on the freeway. You're not auditioning to replace V. Rossi and nobody cares how fast you think you are.
