so happy! ninja 500 coming this week

I'm finally getting my EX500 this week. its only been about 4 months I've been waiting to actually have a ridable bike that runs starts and goes, now that desire is becoming reality. I'll post pics of the bike when I get it here and after I clean it up some.

just some specs, its a 97 EX500, a dark blue color, I'm getting it for $800 because it needs the carbs cleaned out and the choke lever needs replaced. its overall like $30 worth of parts and it'll be up and running like new again.

That won't be too bad and you will know more about the bike when you're done!

well, since I will have the only key, I'm not TOO worried. gotta wait till sunday to go get it. this waiting thing is killing me. lucky the storm that blew through a few days ago gave me work to do or I'd lose my mind.

Hopefully the strom won't appear when you finally do get it.

well, I got it home, wouldnt start easily, so I had to change the oil because someone forgot to shut off the fuel petcock and it filled the crankcase with gas/oil, so I just drained that stuff out, then bled the air out of the carbs, pushed the start button, and VROOM! it fired to life. starts well, revs great, sounds like a bat out of hell though I havent ridden it till I get the pilot powers on it because of the conditon of old tires on it(safety first) bled the brakes and changed the fluid out, its a great cheap bike. mufflers sound so cool too, stock but they sound like a Vance & Hines kit on something bigger.

pics below.

well, I have to pull the carbs off to replace a little piece the choke mounts to, and put a choke lever in, so I'll check when I tear into it.

I got red x's on the pics, but a good start maintenance wise. Powers are a GREAT choice!! I have no advice to offer about carbs. Good luck with that.

I have standard policy of changing oil before ANYTHING else on any vehicle I bring home. you never know how the previous owner treated it, so its cheaper to change than to risk it and be sorry later. oh, sorry bout the rex X's, I hosted the pics on myspace, so that may be why.
