My dealer killed my buzz!

Was gonna trade in my '05 ZX6R for an '07 ZZR600. Black and beautiful I was going to quit corner carving in favor of two up, comfort, and wind protection. Don't need no liter bike to have a good time, but I don't need a 600 race replica to sport tour either.

But then the truck rolls up with my new bike and they sell it to someone else! They still have a red one but the black on was promised to another and my salesman didn't know. They get another truck in October but my balls are crushed. Think I will keep my ZX6R and take out my frustration on the unsuspecting masses at the next track day. Why not? Got a weapon use it I always say.

keep looking for the bike you want...there's one around...with a dealer wishing someone would come buy it...Y'all just haven't met yet.

Well the next Kawi dealer is an hour and a half away. Makes it hard and time consuming to shop around. This one is 45 miles away. But the bottom line is it killed the excitment of the purchase. I had already figured out what mod's would make it perfect (it doesn't really need much) I thought a carbon slip on, 2 teeth on the rear sprocket, Comp Werkes flush blinkers, ignition advancer, corbin seats (they got a new one with passenger seat folding back rest), and maybe a smoked double bubble would make it BAM Sweet!

As it is I am just gonna cruise my 636 and watch for the '07 model releases. Maybe the VFR will be a 5 cylinder or the touring version of the ZX14 will be the ticket. Would be great if I could have 2 bikes one for track days and one for the street. Anyone want to buy a 18 month old boy? The diaper bill is killing my budget!

Find something to bribe him with... I was desperate to go to school (becuase by other brother was starting kindergarten). Mom told me babies don't go to school... no preschool until I was potty trained. I trained myself at 24 months. Was in preschool the next fall at 30 months...

Not that I agree that what the dealer did was right, but I just love playing devil's advocate...

If you didn't sign anything, put any money down, then that bike was not yours... If the other guy put money down, it's his bike... Sales people at dealerships get tire kicker's in every day who say, "I'll be back next week with cash in hand to purchase this"... then they are never heard from again... If a dealer held everything someone promised to buy, without money down, they would never sell anything...

Man it sucks... and I'm sorry about it... but...........

Money talks...PERIOD!

When I purchased my last bike off the floor... I asked the dealer if I needed to put down some $$... he said... no no biggie (a limited color only 2 per dealer). I said... "Nah.. here's a 1000 bone"

As a rule... YOU ALWAYS PUT MONEY DOWN ON ALL VECHICLE TRANSACTIONS!

Not really cause he has to answer to his sales manager that does nothing but looking at sales number for the day for the dealership...regardless of which salesman is doing the sales!

i think the old adage about "a bird in the hand", applies well to the subject..

ive had it happen to me, but id go with the sure sale as well...

perhaps you could guilt trip the salesman out of something for your trouble..

Only works if you have the right bribe... I had to keep up with my brother... I was walking at 8.5 months too... Mom was afraid I was going to get stepped on.

You live in Arkansas and you want to quit corner carving? Keep the corner carver and get an early 90's ZX-11. I've seen 'em for $3K. I have the June, 1991 Motorcyclist, where they compared the CBR1000, ZX-11, Katana 1100, and FJ1200. The CBR won the test, but the ZX was a close second. Most of the reviewers, including Nick Ienatsch, said they would buy the ZX. All it needs is some suspension and brake upgrades and it would be a thousand times better for two-up than the ZZ.

NoWorries is 'prolly right. Get a 2nd hand sport tourer and keep my rocket. I just have to figure a way to justify all this to the wife! I would probably be able to sell her better on a good late model sport tourer and a cheap $3-4500 track day bike...

I looked at the ZRX, Z1000, and FZ1 but I don't see them as track dayable (at least to my standards) and as stock they don't offer quite enough wind protection. 2 up and seating positions are great though...

I don't want to "give up corner carving" It is just that I only make 2 track days per year and I wanted a more streetable sport bike. A YZF600R/Katana/ZZR fits the bill. The YZF is a little dated, the Katana is a dinosaur, and the ZZR is just about right, it just needs about 10 ftlbs more torque. I think I could fix all the ZZR's tiny detail stuff with the aftermarket parts (most not available for the Katana or 600R without major overhaul)

Who knows I may just suck it up and get on with the 636 another year or so until the new VFR is out and no telling what all new releases come out of the sport tour niche...
