Tires for '05 ZX6R

My best frined rides a 05 ZX6R with Yosh pipe and we just put a power commander in it. He is looking for new tires for the bike and I was wondering what people were riding on out there and what they thought of them. I have a 06 ZX10R with the new Dunlop Qualifiers on them and have no complaints as of yet but I don't even have 2500 miles on my bike yet. He was looking at them. Thanks

On my '05 ZX6R I ran the stockers (Bridgestones) thru 4500 miles but the rear flat spotted badly. Then I installed Metzler Sportech M1's and ran thru 2 track days and 4000 miles before the rear spotted. Good grip, excellent stability and feedback. Now I have on the Metzler Racetech's which are super soft, absolutely scary in the rain, but awesome at the track. They have been on for 2 track days and about 1800 street miles. The hot Arkansas summer has done it's worst to kill them but I think the rear is gonna go another 1000-1500 mi. for sure.

I am dying to try the new Metzler M3 Sportech but I have already purchased a set of Pirelli Strada's on their buy a rear get a front free deal and I will have to burn those up first..

There's nothing wrong with the qualifiers, they're just a bit newer so not as many people have tried them. The deal with DLIT's tires was that they were OEM, and hence much harder than standard qualifiers, and even had a different tread pattern. My qualifiers have about 3k miles and 2 track days on them, they've worn fine, but I don't ride in many straight lines. Unless you're on the track really pushing yourself, the only difference between the Pilot Powers, Qualifiers, and the BT012SS is the profile, all of the compounds are very similar.

That said, the Pilot Race's get put on tomorrow. I think I'll try some BT002's after I wear out these pilots.

I'm ordering up a set of Pilot Powers for my little EX500 soon, gotta go 150 in the back instead of 130, but it'll still do the job.
