Just put a deposit on an '08. Never owned a Kawi before (over 40 years of riding), figured it was about time Supposedly, it will be "new" for '08 as Kawi re-designs on a 2 year cycle (04/05, 06/07, 08/09). No matter what it looks/rides like, I'll still get it. Love buying a bike unseen
Man you're obviously a liter bike fanatic, that's awesome!
Have some tips for someone going from an sv650 to a liter? I'm all about throttle control and small, progressive input to the controls but any other general tips would help.
It's tough, not knowing your skill level. If you've spent a while on the SV, I assume you have solid basic skills. The major thing is throttle control, so you have a good jump-start there. Until you somewhat master a liter (you'll never fully master it...Maybe Matt Mladin has, but surely not me.) , you'll find it rather harder to flick around. But once you get a feel for the bike, the riding is basically the same. You may have to alter a couple of habits or riding style, but, again, the big difference is the neck-snapping power of a 1000. You have to wring out a 600 or 650 to get the same power a liter has at 1/2 throttle, so don't go nailing the throttle coming out of a turn until you are upright! Actually, I prefer a 600 on tight twisties.
I'm getting blue..I have blue leathers, gloves, boots.. Of course, the dealer doesn't even know the colors yet. I prefer blue, but if they aren't making one (which they probably will have blue) I'll just chose another color.
Are there even any pics of the 08 yet? You are really brave
Nothing out that I can find. The dealer said he hasn't gotten anything either. The only criticism I've ever heard/read about on the 06/07 model is that the suspension is difficult to set right. Maybe that will change. I'm no expert on setting up a suspension anyway. The only "sag" I really know about is my 55 year old ass. At my age, very little excites me besides bikes and I'm willing to take a gamble that Kawi won't screw it up. I'll let you know. The dealer orders their Kawi alotment in September, so there will surely be some info out before then.
I think it's a mental problem. I had to pay $1,200/month in alimony for 10 years, plus a house and a car (until she married a rich old man with a bad cough). I have a decent retirement coming my way next year, so I figured a couple of years back (when the alimony ended) to spend the "alimony money" on myself. Selfish? Hell yeah! Crazy? No ****!Fun? Double hell, Moth** F%@#ing, Co#$ Suc&%ng YEAH!
