Official Ninja 250 Thread

seems to be a lot more 250 riders on TWF these days... so I thought I'd make a thread

Post up pics of your ninja, questions, comments, mods, plans etc.

Also...
A good place for answers for almost any question relating to the Ninja 250:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Main_Page

everything about OIL CHANGES:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Engine_Oil

You can pretty much do any mechanical job you'd ever need to with the guides on that site.

06 Ninja with 4k miles. Only mods coming are taking off the rear fender and intergrating the rear turn signals into the empty pods by the brake light. And of course flush mounts for the front signals. (Sport demon tires but thats not really a mod) Other then that just ride away till oct. or so when I will be picking up a 600 I4.

The only thing I've done to mine is add extra brake lights in the pods.

I'm thinking about cutting off the fender if I decide to keep it for a while. and would prolly also get KIA flushmounts in the front. Cheap-O MT-75 rear tire and stock dunslip on the front (I got a nail in the rear tire so I had to replace it)

Pirelli Sport Demon-Probably the best overall sport tire for the 250.

Bridgestone BT45- Another fine choice.

These first two are when I got it a month ago and the last 3 are how the bike sits now, except my lower fairing has been painted to match the bike and is now back on.

2000 Ninja 250 (Ninjette)

Here is what I did to the bike:
  • Removed all decals
  • Had lower fairing painted to match the bike
  • Cut rear fender and installed a license plate bracket
  • Added aftermarket rear turn signals
  • New chain and sprockets
  • New Bridgestone BT45 tires
  • Painted wheels black
  • Added brake lights to the two outer rear reflector sockets

As for gear I got a Snell rated HJC helmet, gaunlet style Joe Rocket leather gloves, Tourmaster leather jacket, and Alpinestars boots. All I need are pants and I can hit some track days.

1990 ninja 250. just dialed 4000 miles on the clock earlier this week.

Front semi-flush mounted signals

took off the rear fender, made a plate holder from 2 L brackets

im gonna integrate the turning signals into the pods this weekend.

All I can say is do some research. Check ebay, Cycle Trader, craigslist, etc, to get an idea on what they're going for. If you know someone with one, try and see if you can sit on. You might find out that a regular sit-up streetbike might be more comfortable than a sportbike. Not to rag on anyone's ride or anything. I read reviews and stories about the V-Strom for 2 years before I decided that was what I wanted.
