Looking at an 05 636

It's getting about that time into winter when I start getting antsy again. I sold my bike in the fall because I couldn't afford a bike and college. I don't regret the decision, because frankly, it was a necessity, not a choice. But now I'm getting the bug again and I know I can't go without a bike.

So my comprimise is to get one that is a couple years old for about 2/3 the cost. The most common used bikes around here seem to be the 636's, I know of 5 or 6 of them, and only one 600RR and not a single R6. I know it's winter, so the ads aren't up yet, but higher supply tends to mean lower price anyway. I found a 2007 636 in grey, with 5500km for $7800, which seems to be a decent deal considering they retail for $12,299+$1000 in fees.

So what is the opinion on these bikes? I had a new 2007 R6 and I've ridden a 2008 600RR. I guess one question would be whether the 36ccs are noticeable from the 600cc version? I mean I don't really care, I'm only using it as a highway cruiser, but I've been curious. And perhaps most importantly, I would be riding 35 miles each way to college and back, am I going to get sick of that on this bike? I only took the R6 to school a few times, and didn't mind it, but I'm looking for opinions from someone who does decent highway commutes regularly. The weather here isn't too bad, with warm gear you can ride from mid March to mid December, so in theory, I could get away with the bike and some old clunker of a car instead of having to spend 12 grand on a newish compact car.

Thanks in advance guys.

I used to ride a 2000 R6 and it felt like it had more power stock than my 636 did. Once I did the gearing change, however, it was like a brand new bike. I don't know if they come geared really tall or what, but it was night and day. I wouldn't go back, now. I commute about 65 miles a day to work and back and love it.
