NJ! They are coming for sure, cause they had them at the Kaw dealer convention. The salesmen you were talking to just didn't know what the F they were talking about.

Hey I am new to biking and this forum,

I am currently looking to get my first bike and I was considering this one and the Katana 600. Any guesses how this one will rank against the Katana as far as performance? Is it going to be about the same size or smaller? Any other bike recommendations for a bike in this price range?

About anything will do better than a Kat!

Seriously, it looks like this Kaw will do alot better than a Kat that has really limited current technology on it!

We usually get together on weekends and nights to just go bomb some nice country roads or cruise the town. So, "recreational" I guess? None of us like to go balls to the wall for extended periods of riding since we are all pretty level headed riders who understand the reality of piloting these monsters on public Florida roads dominated by senior citizen's and teenagers. And plus, one of us has already met the pavement at 60mph.

I went today to a few shops but none had a 650R yet. They said expect them to be in around April!

So, I ended up applying for a Triumph Speed Four. This bike seems to excel in power and quality in it's class and I got a great deal on it (with LOTS of Carbon Fiber accessories too!). I'll see Monday if the application goes through!

btw... to compair;

'04 Triumph Speed Four
Maximum Power 98PS (97bhp) at 11,750 rpm
Maximum Torque 68Nm (51ft.lbf) at 10,500 rpm

Great! So what public roads in Florida are you riding on??? Come on up to the Big Bend for some riding...

Hey, I just joined to respond to this as well. I too have been anxiously awaiting the 650r. Im hoping that my 6'2" and 240 lbs fit happily on this bike. The dealers here in TX have also told me around November for delivery. On the Kaw website, its said to be around 6300 or so. I just took the MSF course and was debating on getting a lil runabout bike in the meanwhile. I dunno.

I'm bacccckkkk! My dealer was supposed to hear Oct 29 when in November they'd be in - but hasn't heard anything. This will be my first bike too - I almost bought a Blast - but was afraid it wouldn't be a good bike for a lotta slab/distance - and that I'd outgrow it too fast. My biggest problem was finding a bike I wouldn't outgrow too fast - but that I can handle at 5'3". I've ridden as a passenger with Southern Cruisers for 2 years and they and my mechanic think it will be a great first bike for me. I'm waitin with baited breath for the call from the dealer Of course, by the time it comes in - I'll have to park it in the garage for the winter

i think its ognna be a even better bike then the SV to start on.. power is in line with it but slightly less torque to get a new rider in trouble with.

Is it fuel injected? (id assume yes)

looks wise and the 650R is much more up to date... Suspension.... i dont know.. that may be a big sell point too.

did the ZZR also get fuel injected finally?

If that that be be a clear descision for me. But the I4 Vs. parallel twin is gonna make em act different.... I love twins, but a small twin may fall short if u want a lot of speed.
