Old man Corser puts his Yamaha up front along with Max Biaggi on the Suzuki, and James Toseland's Honda. Fourth on the grid is Nori Haga, then come the Duc's of Bayliss and Lanzi....Should be a good show come Tuesday when we get to watch it:bash:

Well I have been sick for 3 days. Good thing is I missed out on all the web chatter and saw the races from my bed on Tuesday! Looks like a great year with alot of parity since whomever got the start to work for him really had the advantage...

I thought it ironic that the 2 Kawi's collided in race one, taking each other out. Nieto came back in race 2 though crazy spaniard!

Max looked a little like he had missed racing after sitting on his hiney for 2 years. Maybe he will appreciate his ride enough to be a gentlman?:idk:

Bastards

I was all set to go to Phillip Island tomorrow, My mate Max (My race partner from the One Hour) was set to pick me up from the airport, and we'd make the two hour drive down to Phillip Island, where he's got accommodation booked

(Can you believe the Royal Australian Corps of Signals owns an on-site caravan at Phillip Island! We used it nearly every year since 1994 for both WSBK and MotoGP)

I'm currently working on a project which is running behind due to a few Government agencies tripping over thier own red tape. On the off chance that something happens in the next two days, I've basically got to be here. I can almost guarantee that nothing will happen. But I wont be at the Island!

I've never been to an international race meeting outside of Australia, but I did go to the Eastern Creek GP's back in the early '90s. Phillip Island is the greatest atmosphere I've ever experienced. Max puts it on par with the Isle of Man TT.

On the positive side, Foxtel is showing two hours on Saturday and everything from 11AM Sunday, and I'm prepping for the Barry Sheene Memorial meeting the following weekend.

Go the two Troys!:dthumb:

It was the Toseland and Biaggi show, they totally ran away. The guy that turned down a MotoGP ride and the guy that couldnt keep a MotoGP ride duking it out. Lanzi managed a race 1 podium all of 13+ seconds back of 2nd, but its still a podium.

it will be neat to see what bikes "come in" over the course of the season. Yammy looked fast then tailed off, mabye another weekend of tweaking the new R1 will put it up front.

Id like to say GOOD FOR HANNSPREE! They came in, new to the sport, but with major money invested. covering Ten Kate AND Gresini (motogp). With the cigarette money steadily leaving, its good to have new sponsors.

I think the WSBK setup must favor his riding style.

I read somewhere that the WSBK machines are harder on tires than the new MotoGP bikes. I think the combination of higher bhp and lack of (or at least less advanced) traction control favors different riding styles.

Too early to tell?

Ducati has great electronics & traction control. Same goes for their MotoGP effort. I just wonder if Lanzis and Bayliss "old" 999's will be a firm mid pack bike by the end of the year. :idk:

the liters are more point and shoot. less corner speed but hard in and hard out of the corners. You noticed they are out of shape more often than other classes.

Biaggi. Tight lines while being incredibly smooth....Awesome display. I wager his tire wear (or lack thereof) will be a boon to him late in these races. Just 'cause the Roman played 2nd fiddle to Rossi all those years doesn't mean he was slow. And he has the number 1 bike and team working in his favor. Arguably Ducati is the best team but they are into their 2nd development year on the 999 and there is only so much more speed you can squeeze out.

-Phillip Island RESULTS-

RACE 1-

Bayliss the Red lurks and pounces on James to take it. Biaggi got the holeshot then was swollowed by the pack. Worked his way to 3rd. JAmes did some hard blocking and Troy put a hard pass on him. I liked that Bay and JAmes got just a bit snippy in their interviews. And it hurt my feelings when Corser killed his tire running with the leaders and just about fell off the map.

RACE 2-

Toseland led it just about the whole race, but Bayliss did jump ahead for a few corners and purposely let James lead again. Troy didnt get another chance. Biaggi just about mirrored his first race... except for that Haga guy.
