Unhappy Bad Crash in Jacksonville

Last night 6 Aug, there was a crash involving a sportbike that was cut off by either a mercedes or lexus sedan. The sedan pulled out in front of the motorcycle and the rider hit on the passenger side of the sedan. The rider wasn't wearing a helmet and I'm almost sure that he died at the scene. This was at about 11pm last night.

I don't know who it was but maybe someone here does. Just thought you guys/girls may want to know in case you haven't heard from a friend today.

It's been all over the news; don't recognize the bike (it was a custom painted orange sportbike, possibly a Gsxr, with some small Kanji-type lettering painted on the front).

Based on the reports, and knowing that area (it's an odd access road that empties into a major thoroughfare), I believe the bike was probably at fault, and that the black Mercedes had the right of way (I could be wrong, but that's how it looked). Sounds as if the bike T-boned the car, and based on the danage to the car, looks like one or both riders went over the hood (the windshield of the Mercedes was shattered).

Last reports said both riders were taken to Shands Jax (local trauma center) with critical injuries. Both passengers in the car were injured as well, but not seriously.

Everyone just please be careful out there, and wear your helmets!!

Hmmm.. now this article totally conflicts with the news reports I heard last night, so who knows....

I'm not familiar with either the rider or the passenger, but either way, I hope everyone comes out okay. Shands is the place to go if you've been in a MC accident... they do some amazing work there.
