Houston Area Twisties?

Do any of you from the Houston area know of any good twisties? I'm sick of being confined to the super slab... I ride 242, and around lake Conroe, lake Houston and all- but I was wondering (hoping) that maybe I just haven't discovered the local hot spot(s)... This damn place is so freakin FLAT!

It's pretty muh really stinking flat. Houston is the perfect place to square off your tires. This place sux. In order to really get to the twisties, you have to go north or west for quite a while each direction. You've already discovered 242, then there's the Montgomery forest and then up around Navesota there's a few roads. Out west there FM 1463 and 1458. Other than that, there aint much. The best place in Texas for a sport bike is the hill country. There are TONS of roads out there.

Its funny you mention that- I've got about 5000 miles on my tires (stock Dunflops)- the back one is SQUARE... (Good excuse for some new PP's tho) Just riding to and from work down beltway 8- man If I see a corner its like a kid in a candy shop... I don't wanna square off a new set of tires... I guess I'm gonna have to start traveling north.

I know of a few roads...

You got Racer Road out near Sealy FM1458
Out near Navasota FM 3090
Montgomery - Sam Houston Forest

and a few more as I think of them...

Audiomechanic mentioned some... but as you well know... none of them are close together.. so you have to run them over and over...
I posted a map In this thread take a look at it...

I wish- I work a 4 on 4 off schedule. This week I'm off Friday-Monday. It seems like everytime I have a weekend off it rains. Hopefully this weekend it won't.

I have every Saturday and Sunday off.

Anyway, here are your orders: Low, develop some deadly disease that no one's ever heard of and use that for your sick day. Miraculously heal yourself by the following workday.

TOMMYTOM, re-PM me your number. Maybe we can get together for a short time on Sat. It stinks that you live on the opposite side of town though. We'll figure something out.

PM sent... By the way the Austin Bike (ROT) Rally started today- How much time do you have Saturday? Feel like a 3 hour tour? I may have a place to stay up there overnight- just gotta clear up some details.

3 Hours to Austin?!?! That's about right, but what about the rally there and then the ride back? That's like 9 hours! Dang, I wish I could use the entire day. One of my friends is in a break dancing competition and will be battling for 10 G's so I'll be there for a little bit to support him.

Tell me about this Austin bike rally? When is the next time it'll come to town (well, A-Town)?

Oh, And PM received.

It comes every year- this same time frame. If you just wanna ride locally call me. Going to Austin just for the day would be too far- without staying overnight. I wasn't sure I wanted to go anyway- just putting it out there.

I used to live in HOuston so I know what you mean.

Pick up the book titles "Ride Texas Motorcycle Ride Guide for the Roads of Texas" by Miguel and Val Asensio.

Best place I found was around Leakey and Campwood. road numbers 335, 336 and 337. Take a weekend and it will be worth your time getting there.
