Hot Rods, Exotic cars and bikes

The weather can change instantly in the Rocky Mountain area, but it's usually hot and dry, with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. So there was a hot rod show on Saturday, and an exotic car show on Sunday. The hours were 9 to 3 which gives the owners time to get their cars out of the rain or hail.

The hot rods were mostly muscle cars, from the 60's through today, and some custom. The blue and white car is a 1959 Ford Skyliner. The hardtop dissappears into the trunk. No hydraulics. It uses motors to power screw drives which pull the top down tight. Pretty ingenious. The two engines are six packs. The yellow is a 65 GTO with 389 and three two-barrel carbs. The orange engine is a 69 Plymouth 440 with same carbs.

Today, I went to the exotic car show. All Italian. It was in two sections. One part had the affordable Fiats and Alfa Romeo's. The other section had Ferrari's, Maserati's, DeTomaso's, Lamborghini's, and some Italian bikes.

I don't remember which Ferrari this gray one is, but it was the best looking. There were a bunch of Pantera's. They use a Ford engine and look OK, but this one had the best license plate. The Bimota uses a Yamaha 1000 engine with an exotic frame. Yamaha probably saw that the Bimota was 100 pounds less than their YZF1000 and made the R1 after that. The Xerox Ducati 999R is one of only 50 made. The Ducati dealer said I could come down any time for a test ride, but I think he was pushing me toward the Multistrada.

It seems I'm not the only one with the sickness.
I love anything with a motor. Car shows and bike shows. Races or what ever to pass the free time.
