Talking Suomy "Vandal"

All I can say is WOW..... Apparently it's the entry level Suomy (from what someone else was saying about it) but DAYUM it's beautiful... I'm sure it's even more spectacular in person (the detail in Suomy lids is just insane!)

(scroll down to the second helmet to see "Vandal")

I really like that more and more helmets are getting unique in design (i.e. asymmetrical, with a different theme or angle on either side, like a couple of the new Shoeis... "Diabolic 3" and "Strife" come to mind).

I can't wait to see this one in person... I'm drooling just thinking about it.

with MONDO. I prefer getting something basic and airbrush what I want making a statement. Not something that anyone can buy.

That'll be my next lid. I've got the Ventura now. The new Vandals are pretty killer too.

Only thing you have to be careful of when going with airbrushed is are the paints being used approved for use on helmets? Certain chemicals and paints can break down the shell of a helmet, rendering it useless in a crash. Just be careful, and look into the types of paints being used (and contact the manufacturer of your helmet before having it done).

Shoei actually provides a warning against painting your helmet.

Might depend on what composites they use for the shell. Good to know.

(I'll stick with pre-painted anyway... there's enough designs out there that you don't end up seeing too many of the same ones around as it is... I've only run across two other people with my helmet here in Jax, and the helmets I'm looking at upgrading too aren't too cheap, so chances are, not many people will have them, either)

Would I wear it to the track? Hell yeah, why not?

Besides, if I make it to the track, I'm gonna be in the slowest, newbie-est, wettest behind the ears group... I'm not gonna be out there thinkin' I'm Rossi or anything, so it's not like a "cute" helmet is gonna ruin my credibility.

Well if I'm goin around the track slow enough for people to see me, then I'd better look cute doin' it! (ONLY KIDDING!!!!!!!)

I just don't think there's anything wrong with wearing gear that I like, or that happens to be "cute."

And truthfully, I have no intentions of becoming a track junkie... I just wanna get some track time under my belt to improve on my street riding.

HelmetHarbor and Pipecity are just down the road from me.
I was in there 2 weeks ago getting the exhaust for my VStrom. I strolled into the next building to helmet shop. Lots of very cool things there. They have lots of fog guards and helmet accessories. If you need anything directly from the shop let me know. I can stop by just about anytime. The people that run both locations are the best. Very friendly and they stand by all of their sales.
