I have the Cortech sport saddle bags. I have no problem with them. They arent real big, but a sport bike isnt supposed to be a grocery getter anyway.

This is what i have on my gixxer
It has a magnetic base. when off the bike, there is a shoulder strap to tote around. i clip my helmet to it also when carrying it around.

It is just large enough for me to put my ibm laptop in it and has a waterproof cover.

Honestly, who puts 'saddle' bags on a sportbike....? If you really want saddle bags, might I suggest you trade the gix in for a harley.

+1 for the saddle bag alternative aka tank bag.

you guys must have missed the part where i said that i'm bringing my g/f with me on a trip - i'm getting a tank bag for myself - the saddlebags are for her - and all her ****. and they do have some pretty cool looking one's that aren't harley-ish. so basically the reason i need 'em is once i have the tank bag filled up i gotta have somewhere to put her stuff, and have a place for her to sit.

If your gf is anything like mine, I say you forgo the saddlebag option and instead look into a hitch and trailer, or perhaps a uhaul.

Other option is of course a backpack. get one that has a waist strap as well as a chest strap, keeps it on, keeps the shoulder straps in place and makes everything more comfy.

My bikes have tankbags on them all the time. My Suzuki has a Kawasaki bag that has been on the gas tank for over 23 years. My CBR has a RKA http://www.rka-luggage.com/A01%20Products/prod.html custom-matched tank bag and saddle bags. The tank bag is always on and the saddlebags go on or off in a minute. Besides carrying everything, the saddlebags make the cops less likely to stop you, and work great for suckering sport bike riders who think the bike is slow.

for my trip down to the Gap in the end of may... but I'm not gonna be there now... but I have no issue with saddle bags on a sport bike... tells me the rider is a TRUE rider... not a poser...

yeah it expands quite a bit... and gives a lot more room than normal tail bag and saddle bags because it goes out OVER the saddle bags....

What kind of bike is that? i can't see it. the gigantic luggage rack is blocking it. You'd drag bag before you even thought about knee.

well it was for my 8,000 mile trip from Portland to the gap and back... so no dragg'n of knees would be happening with that on back.

i just won this on ebay for $46 including shipping:

it expands too! but I don't have a pic of it expanded: it goes from 9L to 13L.

Next to bid on: Saddlebags.

sorry, I know it is against some of you guys' religion, but I will be firmly joining the "pro-sport-saddlebag" group.
