Thoughts on this for my R6???

Does anyone know if this would work well on my r6?

Since the 2006 r6 has a plastic airbox that is located at the front portion of the tank (see here), it limits the options for magnetic tank bags. I know the magnetic kind that has single point magnets at four points probably would not work. However, I think this bag has three point attachment (you can see it better in this image and this image), so I think it could work...

Any experience or thoughts on this, anyone?

Or maybe more generally, is there a decent magnetic tank bag out there that would work on my r6??

Well to make long trips and such I am going to need a tank and tail bag. Also, I would rather use a tank bag than carry a backpack.

Yeah it's my first bike... still in perfect shape, no scratches... it does need a wash though cuz of the pollen this season up here in the northeast.

That's cool :dthumb: how much work is involved in attaching/detaching these gas-cap mounted systems? I'm thinking gassing up might be a pain, as well as every day attachment and detachment two or three times a day (I live in Boston):thx2:

I have a magnetic tank bag, don't remember the brand.
Has 2 "wings" with magnets in them that go on the top/sides of the tank, then has a strap to tie to the stearing head so it can't go backwards. I like it, as you can lean on it if you want/need to, doesn't get in the way, and doesn't move. Also, the "wings" fold up and clip out of the way, and there is a shoulder strap to carry it later.
That sounds like what I need. Could you check the brand for me when you get a chance? :thx1:

I have the same bike. I got a nice Astars bag I wore when I rode up to SoCal to hit up was is the best road I've ever been on and i was dragging knee and everything. As long as the straps are tight, you'll be fine. It didn't bother me at all. And I rode 678 miles that day.

You mean a backpack though, right? I don't think astars makes a tankbag :idk:

When I do make long trips with a tail bag I wouldnt want a backpack since it might interfere with the tail bag. When I do aggressive riding I would leave all my gear at home/hotel/camping site/etc or maybe just use a smaller bag of some type

They make tank bags you can strap down to the bike and tail bags that you can strap down. Just find your favorite local bike accessories dealer and they can explain your options.

Tank bags arent too awkward. I need to find that pic from killboy where the dude had a tankbag/tailbag/saddlebags and was kneedragging.

Yeah I obviously will be strapping on the tailbag, but I won't be using that quite as much as the tank bag, so I would like if the tank bag were easy to pop on and off a few times a day, that's why I was asking about a magnetic one with the side flap magnets such that the plastic airbox wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah they do make one, it looks like the magnets are all towards the rear and then the front is just connected with a strap. You can check it out here. It actually looks like it wouldn't interfere with the riding position too much at all.

I had checked this out before but wanted to see if there were other, possibly better, options. :thx1:
