Thumbs up I love the smell of new gear in the morning...

Finally got my new summer riding jacket and gloves (WOOT!) that we'd ordered for my Bday....

It's the new Joe Rocket Cleo 2.0... it's NOTHING like the Cleo 1.0, in fact it's more like an updated version of the Phoenix. I love, love, love it... it's a bit longer in back than the Phoenix OR the Cleo 1.0, has the waterproof interior pocket for phone or MP3 player (with a little rubber-grommeted hole for headphone wires). It comes with a long-sleeved windproof liner, and an 8" zipper in the back.

Warning girls, it runs large. I have three Joe Rocket/Power Trip jackets (well, now 4) and I had to order a size smaller than usual in this one. But it fits like a glove (and the sleeves are still the perfect length even though I ordered a smaller size than usual).

Front (there are three snaps on the inside of the arm to keep the sleeves snug, and both zipper and velcro closure at the wrists):

Back (with 3 adjustable sliding straps to get fit just right, and two zippered vents/darts at the hip):

Waterproof interior pocket:

8" zipper:

This jacket has been feline approved:

Also picked up the "Heartbreaker" meshie gloves to go with it. They're a superlightweight dirtbike-style glove. Admittedly not great protection, but idea for my summer commuting (not for 'harder' rides however)

Chris wasn't wild about my ordering them, but was impressed the full palm is leather, and reinforced/double layered on 'slide' zones. These fit PERFECT... seriously the best fitting glove I have. Even the finger length is perfect. (these are probably the girliest piece of gear I've ever bought.... )

And then I stumbled upon an awesome deal (as in 50% off) on some men's Icon canvas pants. They were the last pair, and I didn't think they'd fit me at ALL (since they're cut for a man's body... which I simply don't have ), but I liked them so I thought what the hell.

They actually fit quite well..ok, they make me look like I have NO ass at all, which is damned near impossible, but they're LOW waisted in front, and very HIGH in back, so in riding position, they're perfect! Double reinforced through the knees/shins, and perfect length for with boots.

Are those gloves MX gloves? I know my girl would love a pair of them because they would match all her gear, but I don't know about the tops of them lasting in a slide.

They're actually not MX gloves, just styled like 'em. No, you're right, they aren't the most protective gloves I own, but I primarily just wanted them for my lil 12.5 mile commute.

But I don't see why they wouldn't work just fine for MX... again, they're exceptionally comfy, so she'd love them.

Actually there's most DEFINITELY armour. In fact, it's heavier/sturdier than previous Phoenix/Cleo models (apparently they made a similar armour upgrade in the men's Pheonix from version 2.0 to 3.0). It's got CE in shoulders and elbows/arms, and I BELIEVE it's a CE back protector, but I need to pull it out and verify that.

No, they're actually skulls... little white skulls on a red background (just the inside of the waistband)

Ah, I'll try to get some model pics of it all this weekend... just picked it up last night, and while I wore it for my ride in today, I forgot to have Chris get pics of it all before I left.

thank you!

OH, and just to add... talk about BRIGHT. OMG! Mega visibility!!

I primarily wanted it cus it will be cooler in the middle of a bright, sunny day (versus my other dark colored jackets), but the fact that I'm UBER visible to motorists on the road is a really nice added bonus!

Honestly, cus I wore a little sundress to work yesterday, and when I went into Cycle Gear to pick this stuff up, I tried it on over my dress, and got 'd at... So I'll get pics when I'm properly dressed for riding.
