Size of a jacket

My chest is roughly 41 inches. I just measured from up under my arms, around my back, and right on the part of my chest that sticks out the most, just above the nipples. Should I compensate the size to account for clothes I should be wearing? According to Alpinestars.com the TZ-1 jacket comes only in sizes 46-64. I also plan to start weightlifting and getting bigger so 46 should work for me right?

I have a Joe Rocket thats a size 42 while my chest is 40" and it fits just right. So a 46 is going to be loose on you which you dont want as it will be able to slide up and the pads shift etc, I'd try a 44. Check the A*'s sizing chart or possibly see if any of your friends that ride happen to have one that size, or a local shop:2cents:

Thanks man. I looked on the sizing chart but it didn't seem to have a conversion for Euro sizes. Thanks for the help! What do you recommend then? I'll most likely be wearing it over a shirt some days and a uniform other days. Plus weightlifting and whatnot. I doubt I could gain 2 inches on my chest in 6 months though.

I need help with sizing too. I want to purchase the TZ-1.

I am 6' 216lbs I have a gut that hopefully I can loose. I am very active. unfortunately I just love food. :p

according to the sizing chart in the parts unlimited 06 catalog,
euro size 54 is equal to us size XL, 56 is half XL and half XXL, and 58 is XXL.

I usually wear XL shirts but depending on the fit sometimes ill go to XXL. I was going to purchase a euro 56.

can anyone confirm this is a good size for me?

Don't equate sizes in numbers to sizes in L, XL, etc because those are different for every manufacturer.

European sizes are ten larger than US. For example, you're considering a EU56 jacket, that's a US46. Look at the company's sizing profile and see what a 46 corresponds to in L, XL, etc. if you want that frame of reference.

Basically, buy what you would buy if you were buying a suit jacket.

thank you for your replies. however I don't understand the us size + 10 thing. are u talking waist size, shoulder size or chest size?

either way as per alpinestars sizing chart, size 56 is half way between XL and XXL. I think I'm going to order that one and hope it works. I cannot try it on first as u suggest because there isn't a dealer around who stocks alpinestars gear. besides I'm getting it at dealer cost from the regional rep. so even if I guess wrong and I need to sell it ill probably make out just fine.
