ok so im downtown today and i get to a traffic stop, put the bike in neutral and go to put my right foot down but the laces are stuck i quickly put my left foot down balanced the bike (musta looked like a complete idiot almost falling) and yanked the lace loose and proceeded to TRIPLE knot my sneakers!!! now this has never happened before but i want to make sure it never does again....

what inexpensive boots can i get in a size 13 that will look like normal sneakers/boots if i have to wear them out when i take my bike? help me out guys

I know Icon makes some boots that are pretty tough and have clasp closure, but just look like a pair of hiking boots or timberlands... You could check them out.

Although I've heard the feel isn't that great with those boots, or with that time of boot in general for that matter. But I guess you make some sacrifices in that department for the versatility of it being a casual-type boot.

look on http://newenough.com they have different brand etc and their closeouts are good too.

For in town riding to from the college/work etc, where my speeds stay 45 or under I wear a over the ankle hiking type boot. Yanno these new fangled hiking boots that feel like tennis shoes, but made with leather etc.

wow what a great site...i like the icon super duty 2's they are rather inexpensive, look sturdy, have a strap to hold the laces back and dont look to "bikey" to wear with a pair of jeans.....also found a replacement shield gear kit for my helmet for only 10 bucks!!! thanks for the site

what do you guys think of or have heard about these super duty 2 boots?

I think those are the ones I was referring to in my original response to your thread.

I have the Icon Field Armor boots... They are pretty sweet... Can walk around in them for a while without discomfort... Look fairly normal... They do kinda make you walk funny though... Not unlike a week in Federal prison...

i have the icon superduty 2s. there isn't much in the way of support, they are kinda flat inside. and they are still kinda stiff, even after wearing them for a season. but they fit my criteria of casual street boots. they are very reasonably priced as well. so they will do the job. however, i am holding out for a set of these joe rocket meteor boots to be released in womens sizes at the end of summer.

Unless I'm just going to work (about an 8 mile ride) I always put on my Sidi Vertebra boots. I'd rather wear those than get my foot crushed.

I got some Frank Thomas Strike 2 boots from Cycle Gear for $120- they are comfortable for riding/standing- but not great for walking around alot- I just take my shoes in my backpack and change when I get where I'm going.
