I just got my new Alpinestars TZ-1 jacket and Octane S-Moto gloves

I had great difficulty choosing a size for gear that could not be tried on before purchased. It sucks that shops dont stock Alpinestars gear. When I ask them if they sell Alpinestars thay answer with yes but we dont stock it because it costs too much.

So I thought Id pass on my experience finding the perfect fit.....
I choose a Euro56 for the jacket and large for the gloves. The alpinestars sizing chart I found in the 06' Parts Unlimited catalog is what I used to make my decision. It proved to be very accurate. Unfortunetly I dont have a scanner so I cant copy it for you. But it says euro 54 would equal a us XL, euro 56 would equal half way between us XL and XXL, and euro 58 would equal a us XXL. After I placed the order I saw the sizing chart here http://newenough.com/protective_appa...rt_jacket.html It got me very worried because my dimentions did not match up to a 56. Im glad I didnt follow it when I placed the order. I would not have been happy.

I usually wear a size XL. Im 5'11", Im 216 lbs, Im not very muscular and I have a gut. I was delighted to see that euro size 56 fit perfectly! I was very worried about the fit. Ive heard Alpinestars gear runs small so I went a hair bigger so it would fit better. Its still a tad tight on me but Im hoping to loose weight anyway. If you plan on getting the optional RC back protector (which everyone suggests but I havent reveived mine yet) I hear it makes it pretty uncomfortable. Ill let you know what I think when it comes in.

As for the Octane S-Moto gloves. I got a large and they are a bit tight. For referance, the Icon Supermoto gloves in large fit me perfect. So I got the same size for the Alpinestars. For some reason the pinky doesnt seem long enough. My pinky bends under the rubber teardrop shaped thing and its actually very uncomfortable when I make a fist. If it was a hair longer the fit would be soooo much better. Im going to keep them because I think the XL would be too big. They are 85% leather so hopefully they streach.

I have not yet ridden with them yet but I am hoping the airflow will be good.

I will post more info once I use them.

So far I love the stuff and I think quality and looks of them are outstanding.

sorry I don't have internet at home. I've been typing all of this on my cell phone. so no pictures.

I am actually going to sell the gloves. they are just too small for me. I was hoping they would work but after wearing them on my ride to work I realized we are going to have to part ways.

so if you know anyone looking for a set of brand new red/black alpinestars octane s-moto gloves in size large. let me know. I just bought them for $69.99 at a local shop. I really don't want to loose my ass on them so make me a resonable offer.

well I just ordered the XL gloves. I don't think the large were going to cut it.

did you have the same model gloves? they are a lot of money I hope I can sell the large ones.

UPDATE:
I've been riding around for a little while with the new jacket and I must say its a great jacket. I like it a lot. I was hoping it would breathe a little better but its still better than any other leather jacket I've tried. according to the parts unlimited catalog alpinestars only sells one other leather jacket with better air flow and that one is $699.99.
the collar is a little tight but I'm sure the jacket will loosen up over time.

other leather jackets I've tried tend to bunch up in the front when you are hunched over. they end up choking you as you ride but this one doesn't do that.

I would highly recommend this jacket.
