Helmet question

where i am, we dont have many options in terms of gear, so we end up ordering most of our stuff through the net. i have only physically seen arai, agv, and shoei. as for the rest, i have never taken the risk to order one since i haven't been able to physically get hold of any other brands. i have an agv steath, but looking for a second helmet.

i have seen icon, scorpion, hjc, kbc, shark, soumy on the net, but dont know whether they would fit perfectly and dont really want to take any chances. but for the sake of knowledge, what are your views, mainly in terms of quailty, fit and finish, in comparison to brands like arai and agv, other than price.

Where are you?

Personally, I woulldn't buy a helmet without being able to try it on...the proper fit is just too important.

Bahrain, dont worry, i am not going to buy one without trying it on first, thats for sure, safety comes first.
i was just wondering about the other brands, i see them a lot on the net and magazines, their prices are very good. and i just wanted to know how good they are compared to the brands i mentioned, thats all. just out of interest.

As far as I know, Scorpion fits the same as Shoei. (At least the EXO1000 and the RF-1000) Arai and Shoei are great brands, as is Suomy, but they are the more expensive ones. HJC and KBC are more round headshapes. Shark and Icon are at the lower end of the quality scale (so I've heard), but they're still decent lids. Arai seems to have the largest variety of headshapes available.

in terms of quality, fit and finish, and general comfort, the Scorpion helmets are very good for the price. I"m still rockin my EXO400. its a comfortable and really great helmet. I cant speak for the other brands, but the scorpion stuff is really some great bang for your buck.

My local bike shop recommended it when I asked for the best helmet for the best price.

I own a Suomy. I love it. They are extremely light and comfortable. But thats what you get with higher end helmets. Personally, I will only buy Suomy. I like their flashy graphics and the quality is top notch.
