Shoei X-11

I finally got a chance to try on the different shoei models and have decided that the X-11 is the best fit for me and much better than the Arai's. Ive narrowed it down to one design but cant decide on the color. Its between these 2:

The bike is the blue YZF600R in my avatar and most of my gear is black and blue. Any suggestions?

If you plan on getting another bike anytime soon, I would get the grey because it's a neutral color. These helmets rock if they fit your head perfect.

Thats kinda what Im thinkin since Im not sure if Ill be buyin a new bike next season (spring 09) or later on just yet. And I found a rf1000 I really liked the look of but it fit like chit. The x11 was awesome as soon as I put it on.

Sounds like you got the same head shape as me. I couldn't fit the rf1000 properly just totally different head shape in that helmet or any of the arais. X-11 fit like a glove though.

The grey would be the way to go, neutral colors or something wild that won't match anything is always a good choice so you don't have to worry about being matchy matchy.

Good point. I tried on every arai, shoei and scorpion models I could (already have an hjc and didnt want an icon) and the x11 just felt real nice. What design is your helmet? Thats the one thing I dont like about the x11s is the designs they offer. Theres only a few that I like.

Yeah Shoei helmets are disgustingly ugly. I ended up finding an old Byrne helmet because I like wild designs. I had to call the Shoei distributor and get a list of the last ones sold in the USA to retailers and find out who still had one. I found one on clearance for 300 and something.

Haha. Whats funny is I was tryin to decide which one to get while bored at work today and even thought to myself "I should go blue, since dlit just got the gray one." Not even making that up. But I dont feel as bad about copying since you do your riding on the other side of the country.

That helmet is popular in all colors anyway. Lots of people have em in every color so you would be copying somebody even with the blue, probably even someone on TWF.

True. Especially since its one of the only decent designs on the x11.

Just a lil warning.

The X-11's much like the RF 1000's do have 1 and only 1 problem. If you are riding in even slightly cold weather (anything under 55 F) the visor will fog up and you'll have to ride with the visor cracked if you want to avoid it fogging up to the point that you are unable to see the road.

You could buy a breath deflectors it helps a little.

I have a RF1K now and it does fog up...only if you're stopped or going real slow. You can ride with the screen down fine at speed, no problem. You'd think Shoei would make anti-fog sheilds, like Scorpion does (works awesome), but I guess not.

Mines the same way on my hjc too, especially with the smoke screen on since it isnt anti fog at all. The clear one is supposed to be but it dosnt work all that great when it gets down into the 40s and lower.

Have you decided on which color? The blue won't match the blue of your Yammie. Grey'd be your best bet.
