Helmet info needed

I know this is a tough question to answer with no perfect answer but I need something to work with here.

I know that a helmet will only do so much. I also know that they have to meet DOT standards. I also know that there are other standards out there (have heard of... two?) that are a little higher.

I'm a total newbie to the 2 wheel world... I plan on taking the MSF class sometime in the near future. I want my gear to be the safest possible.

So... what would YOU Personally consider the SAFEST helmet on the market? What are the highest standards, above DOT? Please leave out the "I don't know" or the "They are all the same."

Thanks guys (and gals)!

Snell Helmets

Snell Helmets are safer than dot helmets, and you can get good prices on helmets at www.allaboutleatherjackets.com

i really don't know much about what standards one should take when it comes to choosing the right helmet for you. but if you really want to find out, click on my signature. it has a link to a blog that talks about helmet safety as well choosing the right helmet for you.
