Ruff idler

an african boy in the US - i have just bought a kat (chui = cheetah) just as winter sets in. Man does it get cold in this part of the world.

It is an 04 600F with 400 - yes 400 miles on the clock. Idles a little rough but is really sweet after 2500rpm - is this normal. Used to ride a GS1000 back home and that felt really smooth with not as much pep.

Is there a summer out there?

What part of the States are you living in?

What is it doing at idle? Surging?

well, if it doesnt run well at idle, you PROBABLY need to clean out the carburetors. yeah, this part of the world isnt necessarily a warm climate year round, unless you're in FL, then the coldest you see is 30something degrees.

Thank you bob - took the bike down to a local dealership {new) and they thot I was crazy worrying about it and that no two engines sound alike - yeah tell me about it.

Will take your advice and drain and clean - hope not to put floats out of balance.

Florida sound a little like home but as a working stiff - can only hope to ride down one day - am in Ohio

Asante sana (thank you Kiswahili)

Jimmy

oh yeah, I just noticed you're on an 04 if its a 600F as in Honda CBR, you've got fuel injection on that, which is a bit different. most 04+ bikes that I've seen, except for small kawis, and the ZZR600, have FI instead of carbs. easiest way to fix it in this case, is get some fuel injector cleaner at the store, put that in when you fuel up again, and let it work its wonders. carburetor/throttle body treatment helped immensely on my 500, when nothing else really did.

Only 400 miles on the clock. Its bound to have dead gas. Get that crap out and put some fresh in.
