Post Tachometer not working

Buddy of mines tachometer no longer works. Digital speedo with analog tach. Everything functions except the tachometer needle doesnt move at all. Someone told me the whole cluster needs to be changed because tach is broken. Anyone have any more suggestions....Thanks...=-)

what bike is it on? year? might not necessarily be the tach either, it COULD be a wire somewhere thats dirty, or loose/corroded. check that stuff first, its usually cheaper than a gauge cluster.

Year, make, model, miles?

And most likely the speedo may have a analog needle but its electronic for sure!

If you have a multimeter and shop manual for the bike, you should be able to check the fuses, see if power's getting to the tach, and see if there's continuity between the tach and spark unit. It may just be a pinched wire.
