Exclamation engine dies when trying to put it in gear?

what up guys i just got a 93 cbr f2 . i bought for a guy and it didn't run. he said the spark plugs fouled out. so today i replace it and it fired right up! i then tried to take it out for a test ride and as soon as i put it in to first gear it just died( stoped running). i then put it in nuetral and started it again. this time i tried to put in 2nd gear. it died again.

any takers onwhat it might be? any info would help thank you ..

just to get the obvious ones out of the way...

is the bike warm? is the choke on? is the kickstand down?

I'm sure you'll get some better answers soon enough!
